Genital Herpes is advertised now?
Has this made it more popular?

SOsMINE -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 8:17:16 AM)

Well I can only remember my periods from years ago.  Each of my ex's swore up and down I turned into Linda Blair from the Exorcist.  There is no way in hell of having a "Happy Period".   I say all the women band together and switch bodies at PMS time with that brand manager.

I meant commercials for the drugs for them.... LMAO!!!   I guess I should quit posting in the middle of the night.... I leave things out.... lol

I prefer ob tampons (original, to the poster who asked) but am concerned with the bleach they use to get the material white. Dioxin is a by-product of bleach. I wrote a letter to the company once and got a form letter back

I wish they came in a natural color without the bleaching.

Speaking of commercials that are condescending, does anyone remember the one (Kotex, I think) with young budding women saying "thank you" all elated and beaming to the camera? The attitude you took away was they were all grateful for such a product as if the company was doing them a favor instead of just doing business. The commercial didn't last long.

Thanks UmbraDomina for posting the letter. It was hilarious!!

HisNani -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 2:04:42 PM)

ROTFLMAO!!!! That's AWESOME!!!

We all know we were all thinking the same thing during those f*ked up commercials, right ladies? A HAPPY period? I heard it the first time and went, "say WHAAA?"

Oh, and I don't do tampons or pads anymore: ladies, meet the DivaCup: http://www.divacup.com that's what I use. Simple, easy, not potentially life threatening if you pass out and forget to change your tampon for 12 hours. Whoops. And none of those embarrassing moments when you realize the trash can in your bathroom stall lacks a bag, and only presents you with the ability to see the bottom of the woman in your neighboring stall. As for the pads...I want to know why it's so hard to invent quieter wrappers? I never want the whole world to know when I'm on my period. Seriously. And the always pads with the little wipes? One wipe. One? C'mon. I've been carrying my own baby wipes for years. I've had that "amazingly fresh shower clean feeling!" they think they've invented. And, ladies, I dunno about you, but...one wipe does not a clean bum make.

hopelessfool -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 4:03:01 PM)

I had a happy period once, it was the cause of medical intervetion ^_^ Loves me my depo, and no more periods, but i wasnt to happy on it... after 2 months it got a little old...

Whats the saying never trust anything that can bleed for 5 days an live?

rosanegra -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 4:22:29 PM)

When I had regular periods I resented them.

Now I am lucky to bleed once a year.. that one time is a hell unlike any you can imagine, and it tends to last a week or more... As opposed to the 3 or 4 slightly uncomfortable and somewhat hormonal ones I had before.

For the last year I've spent half the time wondering and/or hoping I might be pregnant... Now I guess I know there isn't a chance in hell for the next 11 months or so, but... I would like to have regular periods back. I might not be happy to experience what goes along with them, but I'd be happy to know my body was doing what it is supposed to.

MarksFantasyGirl -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 6:31:11 PM)

When I was pregnant, I was sooo happy... I didn't have my monthly course for over a year... that was nice...  9 months when I was just growing (and growing, and growing, and growing....) and then another couple months while I was breastfeeding.... ::sigh:: those were the days... I can't wait to go through it again....

califsue -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 7:09:46 PM)

This is just toooooooooo funny. I have not ever seen...but as a woman who anymore gets full of rage, emotions all over the place ...this just had me laughing out  loud.

califsue -> RE: A Happy period- EVERY woman should read this (11/10/2008 7:21:05 PM)

Steel,

i am glad andi is getting help. like luciouslips...once the flo starts i am fine. it is the week leading up to it that is the worst. finding a doctor who has the answers and is willing to help you....it is very difficult. i will be finally seeing the obgyn in december but last time i was in i only got to see her assistant who passed on some reading material...and said in a few more years..8 to 10...it will be over... I agree it shouldn't affect your relationships...but it does for some of us.......

andi is on prozac for her depression due to her Periods, hers was determined not to be PMDD but rather Stress Induced. She is MUCH better now. I no longer feel like getting Divorce Papers because of her behavior during those few days.

If you think you need medication because of your PMS then you should get it, you see being able to SEE that you are irrational is a sign that you are not behaving correctly and any Doctor worth thier Doctorate will tell you you should at least ask about what it might be.

andi and I were fighting so much each time that the Doctor actually wanted her to get a complete work up as when she is on her period she is nearly a different person and she is unaware of just how different she is. We are currently doing a 6 month study to determine if at 22 she needs hormonal therapy.

Seriously folks PMS should not affect your relationships if it does and you cannot control it then perhaps there is something much more wrong.

Steel

I happen to be one of those who is... and for the record... Had one of these letters being typed on my own computer last night, when I for the first time (thanks to Tivo) heard the end of the commercial saying "have a happy period." I was like... WTF, I need to go kill the MAN that came up with that marketing tidbit"  It must have been a man, cause every woman knows that it is an impossibility.

I almost lived up to my name last night...
