I have to be awake at least 2-2.5 hours before I have to be anywhere.  I once tried to rush a morning & ended up with the front tire of my motorcycle in a ditch.  So I now do a leisurely morning thing.  Since this week I'm training for the big day--Friday--I'm trying to figure out what to do from 4ish until a civilized hour.  My body believes that 7am is the perfect time to go to sleep, so that's why the whole week's worth of training to be smiling & cheerful at 6.  LOL

I looked around, but I don't think a horse would fit into my 1-bedroom apt on the 2nd floor.  It would probably annoy the neighbor downstairs, even if it was a miniature horse.  [8D]

And I LOVE my new job!!  I get to give people the miracle of clear vision & form short-term relationships, which are my favorite kind.

In answer to blushes.....Yes, I'm afraid that's true.

I'm not much of a morning person but I'll tell you what my Aunt did, whose visiting (she was up at 4am). I'm staying in the trailer next to Dads and she brought indoor outdoor carpet and lined the inside of the trailer with it. Ummmm yep, I now have carpet in the trailer. The woman was on her hands and knees cutting the rug to fit at the butt crack of dawn... now that's love for you.... AND a very early morning person.

I would suggest having lots of coffee and being wide awake before attempting such a task, as a utility knife can be vewy vewy dangerous. [:)]

OMFG, girly!!!  I don't think I could even safely put a utility knife in my hand before 10am at the earliest.  One morning, I was out of coffee & I opened a bottle of real Coca Cola.  Then I bent over to pick up my laptop off the floor.  To this day, I have trouble opening that sucker.  Coca Cola & laptops don't mix!!  [8|]

everhope -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 12:38:32 PM)

honestly, i don't know what i am any more. i work day shifts, PM shifts, and Noc shifts. the past two weeks i have slept a minimum of 4 hours in between jobs. i was off yesterday and slept from 430 pm until 3am ...messed around on CM until 430am and fell back to sleep...woke up at 10:30a. i am a mess sleep pattern wise.
when i was a morning person, i always started with coffee, children and then chores.
you'll figure it all out in time.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 12:58:07 PM)

One time, I offered to do fill-in work while on vacation from school.  My shifts were:  2 days, 2 PM's, 2 Nocs, 1 day off, repeat.  It was an insomniac's nightmare.  I would wake up, look at the clock, then try to determine if it was daytime or nighttime, then try to remember if I was supposed to be awake in the daytime or the nighttime, then try to figure out if I'd overslept or underslept.  The work wasn't so bad, but all that other stuff was exhausting!!!

SilverMark -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 1:22:46 PM)

As I have gotten older I have become a "Morning Person"...up by 5a.m. every weekday morning and rarely if ever later then 6 a.m. on weekends.
I will read a couple of newspapers on line, scan the posts on CM and then I am off to the gym for an hour to an hour and half. I am so used to it that, I'd
not feel right if I didn't start my day early and get my workout in....and I do love the quite of the early morning...if there is any part of the day where the world seems at
peace than the early morning I have yet to see it.

Based on this testimony, holly, I'm going back to being a night person!!!  I can just stay up all night, then work all day.

DesFIP -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 3:34:22 PM)

Ponies tend to be smarter than horses and that's a bad thing. They can think up more deviltry. The other thing about a pony is they're too small to be ridden/trained by an adult trainer. So unless you happen to be a small trainer or have a whiz kid rider around, they don't get trained out of bad habits.

If you want to meet a nice horse, find a quarter horse. Not as pretty as the other breeds but much better manners and temperment.

But yes, get animals, and you'll wake up earlier. Dogs need to go out, stalls need picking, etc.

Weekdays I get up at 6 to get the teen to the bus at 7. But I'm slow moving, it takes me 45 minutes to wake up.

Try moving your schedule back a little at a time, go to bed 15 minutes earlier at night and you'll soon be able to sleep early. And keep the same schedule on weekends so you don't find Monday so horrible.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 3:42:54 PM)

I have a dog.  Unfortunately, he likes to sleep in till about 10, no matter what time I get up.  So that's not very motivating for me.  LOL

The ponies were photographer's ponies in the 50's.  My Uncle owned them & in the summer, I helped care for them.  Topsy was so popular & well-known in Seattle that when she died at the grand old age of 35, her obituary made the second page of the Seattle Times.  She was a sweetheart.  Flicka would let children sit on her for pictures & would allow someone to lead her around with a child on her back, but if anyone tried to ride her alone, she'd buck them right off.  Tony, the Welsh was just plain mean & would sneak up on you & bite you.  It's the horses who dislike me & I was making the connection between being a morning person & the owning of horses & that perhaps the reason they dislike me is because I'm just not a morning person.

I've tried to shift my hours of awake & asleep but it just hasn't really worked for me.  I think that some of us really truly are night people & that it's not necessarily a disorder, it's simply a minority issue.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 4:10:31 PM)

morning?  what's that? usually i'm just getting home when the first rays of that evil yellow thing peeks through the clouds...

PlusSizeMisfit -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 4:14:17 PM)

when i have to get up early for the 6am shift i turn the tv on and watch the weather, fix something to drink & eat, fix my lunch and hop in shower, hop, hop, hop, then get ready for work,
i usually try to get to the sack around 10pm

good luck

I'm beginning to see a theme here.  In order to be a morning person, one must own horses.  That must be why I've been a night person since I was a child.  Horses dislike me.

Hmmm...interesting.
He is a morning person.
He wants me to be His pony.
(pony's donna have to gets up early, right?)

im willing to bet that if youre willing to sleep in your "tail" you wont be out of bed before 10 ever again...give it a try and let me know.

See, this is my problem too.  So I thought I'd try to observe some morning people in their natural habitat, get some pointers.  Since Friday I'll have to be awake & cheerful from 6am till 2:30pm, I'm training this week & find myself bored outta my mind in about an hour after getting up at 4.  So far, what I've managed to discover is that they seem to have horses in common.  This may be a key factor in the whole morning person/night person designation.  Do you have horses?

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 4:33:02 PM)

wish i could keep a horse in the city - would save on riding the public transit system.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 4:35:40 PM)

See?  If you had a horse, you'd probably be a morning person.  I'm thinking of asking for a grant to study the connection.

stella41b -> RE: What do morning people do? (11/23/2008 4:39:23 PM)

I'm a morning person in a very worldly sense, which means physically I'm in London, England but my morning is somewhere in the middle of Nebraska in the States.
