ORIGINAL: Termyn8or You gave your hair to charity ? That's great. Somwhere some kid on chemo will be alot happier. That's one way of giving that costs nothing. I tried but I can't stand to let it get long enough. As much as I may rail against organised charity, the hair people are a different story. I would give to them in a heartbeat, if it was only long enough for them to take it. T it depends on where the hair is donated. locks of love? makes less than 200 wigs a year. they sell most of the hair donated to them. that is, if the hair is fit to be used, many of the ponytails collected arent stored correctly, or are color treated, or are grey. none of those donations can be used for wigmaking. human hair wigs take a lot of care and arent generally suitable for children...and actually locks of love is involved with wigs for alopecia patients, who have lost their hair to that disease and cannot grow hair of their own. sorry for the tangent, having had long hair and been pestered constantly as to "when are you going to cut it off and donate it??" was a huge pain. if you want to donate your hair to a charitable cause, that's wonderful. assuming that someone else wants to donate their hair and constantly asking them why they havent done it yet is an invasion of their privacy, not to mention highly annoying. kitten
