I can see how Bettie was an icon to many across the spectrum of kink and BDSM. She's certainly influenced me. The lush and luscious physical aspects aside, her apparent playful sensuality is something I've always found appealing, and one of the strongest features I look for in a relationship. Not for me the Bitch Goddess, or the Humiliatrix, etc, though more power to those who do enjoy those types. Bettie, as a symbol, has always been to me the velvet glove, the epitome of the sensual hedonist. Innocently seductive, languid but vivacious, and beautifully balanced in thought and deed. Of course, I'm speaking of her in a symbolic sense, as I truly have no idea of the lady behind the pictures, beyond what bits get flung around in conversations and the media. She's always struck me as a near-balanced switch, based on her many, many pictures. You can see her holding dominant poses and submissive ones, displaying something akin to shock when being spanked, or a gorgeous sense of whimsy when posing in seemingly haphazard but calculated ways. She never seems aloof, always seems involved, in every shot. It's this view of her, this picture in my head of what that woman represents to me, that I'll be remembering, and in that memory, making ageless.
