i am 100% submissive and have no desire to Domme, ever.  i used to play with a switch and i tried,  but it just was not working.  i was always too afraid of hurting Him even though He wanted me to.  He was such a blast though, still a very good Friend of mine.....actually my closest male friend.  VERY cool.

edited to change wording.

I am a dominant person. I would not make a good submissive. I do not enjoy or get anything from pain, and discipline would not make me behave better, it would make me rebel. So, explain to me please what exactly I would learn from such an experiment? If I do not like pain, then I learn nothing about someone who enjoys it, or even needs it. If I do not enjoy discipline and control, then I learn nothing about someone who craves it. So, essentially, aside from learning that I am a terrible submissive, which I knew anyway, I am not going to learn jack and crap about being dominant by submitting! I dont learn to throw a whip better by feeling it when it his me. I dont learn to use a crop better by being struck by one. I cant learn how to tie a better knot just by being tied up myself. If you are not a submissive type, forcing yourself to endure it just to make others believe you will be a better dominant is stupid.

If you enjoy both sides, then you may gain by switching. In my case, and most others, they probably wont.

My opinion, others need not agree.

My sentiments exactly.  I could not have better said it for myself; so I won't.

A quote comes to mind while pondering this: "To be a good leader, one must be a good follower." - Quote unknown.

There is indeed something to this.  However, the skills of leadership (which might be equated with those of being an owner, or a daddy) are distinct from those of a masochist (such as needed when topping).  We almost all grew up having to be submissive (to parents, teachers, etc.).  We still have to be submissive to some extent with some people - such as policemen and the taxman - and that's quite enough ongoing practice at being a 'follower' for most dominants!

the thing is, no amount of paddling youre Dominants bum is going to help him understand what it is to feel and be submissive if he has no submissive leaning whatsoever.  all that will happen is that he'll discover how he personally, individually, translates that sensation and as we all translate sensation in a different way thats moot too.

being spanked isnt the begining and end of being submissive, its a personality type not an activity.

on the other side of the argument, i probably could domme someone because i know what submission is and i could work it - but do i want to, no, it isnt where my inclinations lie.
