ORIGINAL: WayHome Only a slight derailment of topic... I want to buy a new single tail (or maybe a matched pair) and have so many choices. I know who the best makers are supposed to be but what type do I want--Bull, stock, snake, target, signal, quirt? I'm thinking I want something somewhat small because of space issues in the places i'm most likely to use it. I's like something I can (with practice) use on someone without too much damage (cuts). I'd like something that can make some noise. I think I would like something that I can change the popper on so that I can be body fluid safe if I use it on more than one person. Beyond that, aesthetics matter and I'm not sure what else. any suggestions? You might consider a snake whip. You can get a 3' whip, which will suit your space constraint needs, has a fall before the popper so the popper is easy to change out, and it throws similarly to a signal (which I think is one of the easier whips to throw). My only complaint with a short whip is that the rhythm is a bit faster (unless you are the sort to only throw one stroke at a time).
