He also defended the Church's right to "speak of human nature as man and woman, and ask that this order of creation be respected."

Pope Been-a-Dick can kiss our collective arses.

He is the "Evil Pope" anyways... he looks like he should play some villian in a campy movie.

Now JPII he was a good man. This one is an outright wanker.

Okay, I'm a little confused...  It's okay to be homosexual, as long as you don't act on it? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me....

Brittany, he is following Jesus' teachings, which said, "Love the sinner, hate the sin."

Note that I'm NOT agreeing with homosexuality being a sin, I'm just explaining.

(And what kind of world is it where a Jew explains Christian thought anyway?)

Raechard -> RE: Pope says I'm a threat to mankind (12/28/2008 8:44:28 AM)

Finally the pope has admitted being a threat to mankind, took long enough. [8|]

Every religious extremist is a threat to mankind in my experience.

Very anti-Christ in terms of his message, and on the eve of Christmas - if they stopped to think about it - insulting and offensive to humanity. Not that you would expect any charity from the Catholic Church (institution) because that only extends as far as its own hierarchy in the crudest and oldest form of globalization.

Such a statement sexualizes the sacrament of marriage, negates the most fundamental teaching of Christ, and in preaching divisiveness, hatred and bigotry to people serves far more Satan than God.

You have to wonder what God thinks of all of this bullshit.

Some where God is going " Geez why on Earth do these Idiots believe this crap? Did they learn nothing from all of the Prophets I have sent down there?"

I would hate to have this infantile, war mongering asshole of a God that they represent. Thank goodness I never bought into their idea of God.

MichiganHeadmast -> RE: Pope says I'm a threat to mankind (12/28/2008 8:53:24 AM)

I'll go ahead and be the minority of one here.  I respect this man, albeit I'm not Catholic and I don't agree with everything he says.  But he has a right to interpret scripture any way he wants (as do I) and he only has to be true to himself (as do I).  Long as he doesn't try to give his edicts the force of law.  I say that about any of my religious friends.  But then I say the same about my liberal friends and their opinions, too.

Now I need coffee.  I'm rambling.

HeidiAnn -> RE: Pope says I'm a threat to mankind (1/2/2009 4:21:02 AM)

Great news indeed, the main-man of anti-god calls us a threat! :) But I do agree, it's not great news for those who live in countries where this preacher of anti-god is seen as the messenger of all that is holy. Such a twisted world we live in.

Wow, we are just as important as the rain forests. I am impressed.

Ahem...he said that destroying you is as important as preventing rainforest deforestation, big difference.

Don't worry, it's coming from someone who believes the world is 6000 years old, dinosaurs coexisted with adam and eve, and science is a lie made up by sinners.

roughleather -> RE: Pope says I'm a threat to mankind (1/14/2009 10:43:53 PM)

That's standard Catholic theology.  If you buy into Catholic theology, you have to accept that homosexuality is unacceptable. If you accept the authority of the Catholic Church, you're stuck with their rules. If you don't like it, leave the Catholic church.

Bear in mind that Catholicism isn't supposed to make you happy, or comfortable. It's supposed to prepare you for the afterlife, which is viewed as more important than real life. If you have to suffer in real life, that's considered OK. Don't blame the Pope; he just works there.

At first, before I read the article, I thought you were a threat to mankind because you were from England...lol.  Just kidding! [;)]

If the pope thinks homosexuality is that big of a problem, doesn't he realize that he'd have to get rid of over half of the priests for "improper behavior" with young boys?  Yep, makes perfect sense to me.  I mean with the idiots in office starting wars all over the globe, the idiots around the world trying to kill each other for no good reason, the economic crisis, the hole in the ozone layer, the melting of the polar ice caps, Madoff scamming billions from investors, and the US getting hit with some of the coldest winter in decades, the "problem" of homosexuality will be the downfall of the entire human race as we know it.  Good grief!!!  [8|]

Next thing you know, he'll start saying that encaseing your lover in rubber, tying them up, and beating the holy hell out of them for sexual pleasure is bad, too!  Geez!  We can't seem to have any fun in this world!!!  [sm=gaah.gif]

We're doomed!  We're all doomed!!!  We're all gonna die!!!  Run for your lives!!!  [sm=runaway.gif]

I agree Sir.  As a former Catholic who got away without it leaving a mark (..checks his torn and filthy immortal soul, covers it up again hoping no one got a good look...), I see the thinking that drove me away from organized religion years ago.  It's nice to dream that a group of lifelong "servants" of the church might decide to select from among themselves a courageous and transformational figure to lead them all in a new direction (it nearly happened with JP2), but it's pretty unrealistic.  Maybe Dan Brown will save us.

That's not what the article stated or implied neither in tone or diction. There are plenty of homosexuals in Catholicism as there are alcoholics and overweight peoples. Few men or women ever perfect "self mastery" but Church teachings raises the bar high fully aware few clergy or laity will ever fully succeed - hence the sacrament of confession.

The Church would view my sexual fetishes as disordered. Perhaps it should. Either way it is up to me if I desire to follow the teachings of the Church or not.
