I'm going to agree with this. I would not expect a dominant to go through any of the tasks or pains he puts me through. I do, however, expect that he learns my thoughts and feelings and how I am affected by such. He doesn't need to go through it to know that.
As for self insertion, this is something I had to do for my former owner a lot, given we were long distance and he liked to see me do things to myself for him. Yes, it was difficult, but part of his sadistic nature was to have me do difficult things for him. The difficulty was also emotional at times, and when I began doing this for him I would get weepy at first.
This is what helped: I was doing it for him, not for me. Doing things for him brought me to not cry and fret about it, because I didn't feel that was serving him gracefully. I started slow, with smaller objects. Glass dildos or plugs are helpful because with lubricant they slide quite easily. Dildos were easier because they didn't have the bulby nob that plugs do (that was the hardest part to push in all the way), although they were often times wider, which had its own challenge. I moved slowly, very slowly, breathed deeply, closed my eyes and visualized the insertion. I knew with glass and lubricant I wasn't going to split myself open, so at times I would say "fuck it" and just quickly push in that last bit. Yes it hurt, a LOT, but only for the first 20 seconds or so, and then the body would begin to relax. "Bearing down" as it is inserted helps, also, as it seems to open things up and prevents the body from fighting against it.
Sure in person play and training is more enjoyable and easier. But having been in an LDR, I understand it is not always feasible, so you make due as you can. If you care about her and what she is feeling, this will help a great deal. If you don't, well, I feel for her.
