I won't give the full and most interesting story about it--that's on my website, for the curious. I will, however, say that it was the right pun at the right time, and it isn't so much my name in the "scene" (Jacques Treatment, I mean). "Michael," though, is my real name. No reason to hide that. I wear my heart (and many other internal organs) on my sleeve.

If You'll bite, Ma'am i will find it for You right away. what a wonderful offer.
Actually, i had to look up the title. it is
“Potter’s Field”, Tom Waits, Foreign Affairs, Electra Records-1977
i recommend that it not be listened to by anyone in the throes of depression.
However, as it seems to have been performed 3 sheets to the wind, it seems best to listen to it that way.
the phrases that appealed to me were,
quote:

The Nightstick's heart pumps lemonade.....
He caught the alabaster orbs of a dime a dance hall girl, stuffed a hundred dollar bill in her blouse, and caught the cruel and unusual punishment of her smile...
“So if you’re mad enough to listen to a full of whiskey blind man,
then you’re mad enough to look beyond where the bloodhounds dare to go.
If you want to know where the nightstick’s hiding out,
You be down at the ferry land, 'bout half past a nightmare
When it’s twisted on the clock, tell ‘em Nickels sent you,
Whiskey always makes him talk,
Ask for Captain Charon with the mud on his kicks,
He’s the skipper of the deadline steamer
As it sails from the Bronx across the river Styx.
And a riddle’s just a ticket to a dreamer.

after i left that pity party, it made much more sense to become "YoursMaam" which seemed to be a better offer than "Cobweb strings on a busted Ukelele".

Yes, it is Dean Koontz that does the Book of Counted Sorrows and i must say that it's refreshing to not be the only one aware of this when quoting that particular poem!

Well wishes!

Most tasty girl-

Please send picture of freckles.
[added the following morning]
or please send pictures of Dean Koontz

You know, it wasn't as easy as I thought to find a photo that showed my freckles. They have faded a lot since my teenage years, I hardly notice them now, though they're still there! I am wearing make up in this pic, so it does make it a bit harder to see them on my face.

topcat,
I'm a fan of Mr. Koontz also. Do You know why he dropped his middle initial? When he started out, his name was Dean R. Koontz. Now, it's just Dean Koontz. Others have done similar, I guess. No Cougar in John Mellencamp anymore. But does seem that name recognition would be worth more than ease of pronounciation.

I started a thread on this very topic in Off Topic Discussion about a month ago. For those who missed my explanation, here tis. I'm from the south and I'm sort of dumpling shaped, otherwise known as plump. The University of Southern Mississippi has a dance group that performs at sporting events known as the Dixie Darlings. Those of us who attended other schools called them the Dixie Dumplings. I like words and funny sounding combinations, so chose this as my screen name here.

Wicked smile, Thank you yours, as I love music, I will have to seek out the song. As to biting you, be careful what you wish for, it might come true. (I did have a sub say bite me once to me, they never said it again, well to me.)laughing, have a wonderful day. Sundew

Midear Yours-

Hmmph. I should have gotten that. I don't know where my 'Foreign Affairs' has got to (it was vinyl!), but my 'test rack' -the CDs and cassettes I carry to work everyday, in the chance I have to 'test' a customers stereo- has 'Small Change', 'Bone Machine' and 'Used Songs' in it right now.

"the women all control their men with razors and with wrists"- 'In the Coloseum', 'Bone Machine'

Stay warm,

I have always liked the phrase "iron fist in a velvet glove" and this was my best personal interpretation.

... which has been my tagline for years now... it reflects my style of Domination.

Long ago and so far away, I started off as "Angelik" given the fact that with soft blond hair and blue eyes, I hardly look mean. But then again, it gives me that wolf in sheeps clothing advantage.

My alternate nicks are MlleAngélike (though most internet based things don't accept the accent aigu on the e). I've also gone with the nick Sadistika. It's interesting to see how differently people react to this last one in comparaison to LadyAngelika.

How was it that made You pick out Your name, was it someone who gave it to You?? Or was it a name that You choose???

eyesofAslave-
I picked my name because it is WHO I am becoming. I spent about two years thinking about WHO I would become (I work in an industry where a stage name is essential and have decided to push it *my stage name* to the limit.
I like the way it sounds.
I like to think that it LOOKS like me.
It is becoming, day by day, more of who I am.
As Always-

At the time I choose my professional name of Simone ,it was unusual and not very familar in the States. I like d the sound of it. My last name of Worthington was give to me by a male peer to signify being worth serving my household as in "are you worthy?. The name or title I prefer is Ma'am and its a title bestowed upon me by those in my community. Most call me by it and its what I prefer. My real name is Glenna and since even my husband now calls me Ma'am , it is odd when someone calls me by my given first name.

Ma'am

I have been using DarkDeadGirrrl for years now. My given name is Tonya, but most everyone calls Me DDG.
Dark is for the shadows I have surrounded Myself in. I am pagan, and am attracted to the nocturnal aspects of life, far more than I was ever attracted to the sunlight.
Dead is actually for more than 1 reason, dead because I was born with a heart defect that required open heart surgery when i was 4, and this was in 1976, obviously I survived, but was prepared for the end before the surgery. dead is also because I am in love with death, I love old graveyards and have always been attracted to dauggerotypes.
Girrrl should be fairly obvious. I am female and bisexual, and in the lesbian community, there are "riotgrrrls", i just liked the spelling.
so there you have it..DDG.

In my case picking a name was easy: I smile a lot; I like it here.

In an earlier post, the Wonder Diet was mentioned:
quote:

"It's not what You eat it"s Who~"

I've lost 10 pounds on the wonder diet,
with a smile on my face the whole time

I picked this one based on objective observations of myself around others. I'm a cheerful, optimistic type with lots of energy, so the thought of "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed" led to me naming myself squirrel in the scene.

Later, I realized that when I talk, I tend to chatter on both loudly and energetically, like the image some people get of an angry squirrel.

Hence, squirrelfury.
