CaliChick and Beth, yes, those two scenarios are also possible.
Boy, you think you know someone and something like this happens!
And yes, it *does* take two to tango!
All those "husbands" should have disciplined themselves to keep it in their pants when they got married.
When I'm going out with a woman I go out with her *exclusively.*
I *look* at other women of course but I don't touch.
With me anyway it would bother me tremendously if I was the cause of a marriage breakup.
I just couldn't do that.

P.S. and thankyou to everyone for your feedback!
It has helped me to understand this a little better.

Pops, if you ever quit Looking at women - even if you eventually find "one" to get involved with - I'll know it's probably 3 days past time to bury your body.

LOL, Oh I doubt that'll happen, I been lookin' all my life!
That's something I don't think any woman can change in a man.

that's the trick...to find  a woman who understands "he can look all he wants as long as he understands that lookin at the menu is fine but ordering isnt".

I agree with whomever said the fear of commitment.

Some consciously or subconciously choose to 'chase' to obtain something out of norm reach.  Perhaps knowing it will lead to disappointment and drama, even attention, as negative as it may be.

With the back turned to such falling and crumbling around them ..they walk away, no responsibility.  Other's pain relieves their guilt.  You can call it a 'daddy' issue for women or a 'mama' issue for men but all it all it is the same pattern.

Not getting the attention (or too much attention) in the way one longs to have leads to using this as a means of the only power they can identify with  as an adult.  It is rationalized.  Likely once they achieved such a goal, it is unsatisfying and dull.

This type of person has no scruples nor concept of moral conscience and will not be the one crying in distress at the end of an affair, this type of person cries in dispair yet that masochistic outburs it a relief, a sick, sublime and satisfying relief.  On to the next victim, and on to the next after that.
