Basically it is a pack of tools for you to use on your computer, all collected into one nice little bundle. Check it out. Google has released the beta version of a software bundle that includes many of the more popular alternatives to Microsoft applications. The Google Pack was announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last week, and it features a collection of software from Google and other vendors, including Adobe, Mozilla, Norton and Real. Included in the Google Pack are Adobe Reader 7, Ad-Aware SE Personal, GalleryPlayer HD Images, Google Desktop, Google Earth, Google Pack Screensaver, Google Talk, Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox with Google Toolbar, Norton AntiVirus 2005 Special Edition, Picasa, RealPlayer and Trillian. It also includes the Google Updater tool, which downloads, installs and maintains all of the software in the Google Pack. Almost all of the software included in the Google Pack is available for free download on various sites. The attraction of the Google Pack is that it includes all of the software and tools in one downloadable package, said Charles King, principal analyst at Pund-IT. "You can grab it a piece at a time. In a way it sort of aggregates existing tools, certainly," King said. However, there's more going on with the Google Pack than simply making a lot of software available in a one-stop-shop method, he said. Microsoft will be releasing Windows Vista later this year, and it will be one of the most thoroughly integrated Microsoft software packages to come down the pipe, King said. It will incorporate integrated Microsoft security solutions, pop-up blocking solutions, anti-spyware solutions and more...
