The sauce sounds great rex but I will pass on the cauliflower and broccoli.  I would rather grill some veggies like corn on the cob, bell peppers and potatoes.

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: steak (2/7/2009 10:04:17 PM)

it works for pretty much anything really. I just enjoy broccoli and cauliflower lol. oh! and the sauce is awesome on eggs.

Prime rib steak, marinated (home made marinade) for at least 24 hours, grilled to a juicy medium and seasoned with a little pepper, coarse salt garlic and a dash of a couple other spices, baked potato, green veggie and tall glass of milk......drooooool

[:D] I dunno what a dry rub is, but other than the ketchup, no add-ons.

I like the taste of actual steak, usually... hence why I go light on the add-ons :) a slight sprinkle of 2 parts salt to 1 part sugar on the steak, with a little bit of ketchup to dab my fork into between bites and I'm in heaven.

I really like mild to medium salsas.  Mango salsa is perfect if you like a bit of sweet with your spice.

Ribeye, broiled "Pittsburgh rare" (charred black on the outside and red, cool inside).  I've only ever seen it in one restaurant (it was in Buffalo, NY about 20 yrs ago) and I had to order it that way, being a wayward Pittsburgh born/bred beach bum.  Furthest I've ever driven for a steak - 210 miles to the Harris Ranch for my birthday, also had a ribeye.  Damnit, now I want a steak!  ..shakes fist at OP...

yours

>>>Ketchup , steak sauce.. sugar.. eww. ..way to ruin it.. i like coriander, pepper, marjoram, salt on mind.. after marinated in something simple.. like italian / worcestershire mixed together

rexrgisformidoni -> RE: steak (2/7/2009 10:14:18 PM)

hahaha, I had no idea people would actually post, this is fun. *goes to fridge to get leftovers and munch on yummy steak*

Ribeye, broiled "Pittsburgh rare" (charred black on the outside and red, cool inside).  Sounds perfect if it was hot and grey and juicy on the inside.. and not so charred on the outside it was hard. :P

I'm talking very little... like a tsp for an entire 16 oz steak

Owner59 -> RE: steak (2/7/2009 10:26:29 PM)

Major amounts of fresh ground black pepper and some salt.

Pan fried in a little butter till crispy on the edges w/ only one flip.One side,then the other,then on to the plate.

Fried onions on the side and a baked tater w/ butter.

And for my vegetable, I`ll take another baked tater.

This is almost like Hee-Haw`s ,"Hey grampa,what`s fer dinner",bit.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: steak (2/7/2009 10:45:30 PM)

The only steak worth talking about is a dry-aged tri-tip from Schaub's in Palo Alto. That wet-aged supermarket "black angus" (what a fucking marketing coup THAT was...chumps) is barely edible.

popeye1250 -> RE: steak (2/7/2009 10:51:34 PM)

Knock it's horn's off, wipe it's ass and flip it!
I get hungry for a steak when I watch those animal shows on t.v.
The ones where lions tear a zebra or wildebeast to pieces.

Vendaval -> RE: steak (2/7/2009 11:34:27 PM)

Do you save the horns to mount on the front of the car too?  [:D]

Yep, I've mentioned that before.  I remember when steakhouses used to advertise that they only served USDA Prime cuts.  You don't see that anymore; it's all this Black Angus nonsense.  Black Angus is just a type of cow.  In no way does it mean quality beef.

NuevaVida -> RE: steak (2/8/2009 12:32:00 AM)

This is a cruel, cruel thread.

I agree that Black Angus is awful.  Dry aged is yum.  Now I'm hungry.

Now wait a minute, I never said that Black Angus cuts were awful.  Actually, you can get really good cuts from Black Angus beef.  It all depends on what the cattle were fed, and the marbling in a cut of beef.

NuevaVida -> RE: steak (2/8/2009 12:43:58 AM)

Oops, I was thinking of Black Angus steak house, sorry.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: steak (2/8/2009 12:54:45 AM)

Oh Lord, I remember that place,  We used to have one.  The Bonanza that existed from my childhood went out of business.  It became a Western Sizzler for awhile, than it became a Black Angus.  They had a big Black Angus Cow statue out front.  It later became a Colton's, which sucks.
