Vendaval -> Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/9/2009 11:23:47 AM)

Going with Term's suggestion and moving from steaks to burgers -

What are the best ingredients, condiments and sides, preparation methods, etc for the most mouth-watering-gut-busting-burgers?

Termyn8or -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/9/2009 11:33:04 AM)

Ya hadda fukin do it dincha. OK.

My best burger I grind, has no fat but is cooked very rare. On the top is a melted slice of GOOD cheese of course, and perhaps a tomato slice and of course a good smattering of mayo on the toasted bun.

On the bottom there shall be exceedingly thinly sliced onion, dill pickles (not sweet) and mustard.

And that's a regular burger. Don't get me getting fancy here, it could blow your mind.

Cooked just a tad on either side, mooing is preferable.   I like a slice of Vidalia onion inside the burger as it's grilled. Slice of Swiss or cheddar, and 2 strips of crispy bacon.  Mayo, ketchup on the top bun, lettuce (not shreded) and a slice of tomato.  Bottom bun, bacon ranch dressing.  4 pickle chips on the burger, Lays chips on the side, and a half sour or garlic dill pickle (quartered lenghthwise) as well.  Sam Adams or Heinekin in a mug is a must.

My favorite would be:  burger, no bun, onion rings & bacon & cheese.  No need for any sauces.

I had a buffalo burger the other day that I cooked myself... it was pretty good. C makes awesome burgers in his smokers, and I made amazing ones where I mashed bbq sauce into the meat before grilling. Meh. I'm not a picky eater. :-/

Venison and Buffalo ground corsely, Celery added to keep moisture in the burger but diced very thin. Put on the girl on Medium low Heat and then have a tray of Cedar and Apple Wood Smoking below the burger. A Chunk of Extra Sharp Cheddar and placed on a Kaizer Roll. Mayo mixed with Chipotle and Adobo Puree Mixed together and spread evenly on the top and bottom bun. Slice of Tomatoe and SPROUTS Yeah that's right Alphalfa Sprouts a WONDERFUL Change from Lettus. Then Sprinkle it with Bacon Bits and Cap that Mother F*&$ER.

Make some Steak Fries by Pan Frying long wide strips of Potato and then Baking with some season salt for 45 mins in a 300 degree oven or until nice and crisp and golden.

Top it all off with Pinapple and Strawberry Daqueri ( I make mine Liquor Free)

I have simple taste when it comes to burgers.  Loosely packed ground beef, handled just enough to basically shape it, grilled with american cheese on top, medium rare, whatever kind of bun, salt, pepper and ketchup.  yum.  I haven't had a burger in ages.

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/9/2009 7:14:49 PM)

gotta agree with Marie2....loosely packed meat seasoned with salt & pepper to start with. Then top with no less than three of the following......grilled onions, thin sliced sauteed white button mushrooms, american or swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, 2 or 3 strips of bacon, brown mustard, ketchup

Vendaval -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/9/2009 9:16:42 PM)

Let's see, Harris Ranch beef on the bar-b-que, cooked medium, add some grilled mushrooms and jack cheese, mix some ketchup and spicy mustard for a sauce, lettuce and tomatoes on top with a seasame seed bun.

FR:   A modest receipe for the best damn burger you will ever have.

       1.  About 9 pm, pick up gorgeous little girl and take her to dungeon club or to dungeon party on North Side of Chicago.
       2.  Note theme of evening is "Barbeque".
       3.  Put little girl in Daisy Mae short-shorts, red-and-white checked bandanna top
       4.  Change self out of jeans and leather shirt and into apron with "Fuck the Cook!" printed across front.
       5.  Beat same lovely little girl with spatula, wooden spoon, and other utensils.
       6.  Repeat until tender and creamy.
       7.  About 2 a.m. realize we are hungry.
       8.  Leave venue and drive to Suzie's on Montrose, wherein is the best burger in Chicago, incredible fries, and over 80 milk shake flavors.
       9.  Order two Suzie burgers, med. rare.  one large fry.  one choc-mint-oreo shake and one Barvarian Creme (sic) shake.
      10.  Consume same.
      11.  Go home and continue steps 5-6, and other things.

Best hamburger ever.  Trust me.  Nothing else is as good.  *G*

Throw some chopped onions, spices, and worchestershire sauce into the all-beef meat mix. Form patties.
Grill with homemade BBQ sauce.
Lightly toast kaiser buns. Top with a combination of cheeses, tomato, and lettuce.

But I think the flavour should come from the meat and grilling sauce, not from the condiments or toppings.

i've gotta stop reading this thread.

i have to go get a pickle every time i read it

Dnomyar -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/10/2009 3:01:00 AM)

I like a big hamburger steak smothered in gravy.  Of the chain burgers the Big and Tasty from Mc D's is my favorite. Swiss mushroom burgers are the best.

Lashra -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/10/2009 5:15:48 AM)

Fuddrucker's has some really good burgers. But in general I like mine well done with mayo, ketchup, pickle, mustard, lettuce, cheese with some big steak fries on the side.
