Hey! How come that steaks are allowed with the serious stuff, but burgers got relegated to random stupidity?
Burgers should sue for discrimination! [:D]

Other than my own burgers, off the grill, plain with black pepper and a cold Corona...I'll take the Whopper...stock off the assembly line.

I love all burgers, except those made with turkey, chicken or pretend meat.  I do need mine well cooked though, because after all these years of working with food & having food safety drilled into my head, & after watching my daughter's friend nearly dying of eccholi poisoning when she was just a small child, from eating a burger that was undercooked, I need my burgers well done.  165 degrees when done.

Since my own grilling skills are rather suspect, I'm quite satisfied with paying others to prepare burgers for me. In general I like mine thick, cooked well, and juicy (not greasy) enough that the use of a napkin is required after every bite. I'm pretty much cool with trying any condiment or topping at least once so long as they don't overpower the taste of the burger itself. I especially enjoy them if they're cooked on an outdoor wood-fueled grill in the dead of a Lake George, NY winter, complete with falling snow.

Hell no... I'm right outside with them.

I love it when taverns with outdoor decks stay open in the middle of an upstate NY winter. :-)

The last time Holly tried to make a hamburger she tried to put the whole cow on the grill. She likes her's rare so when the cow said mooo she thought it was done.

ya know...i do the grilling here because, when Jim does it, i get really annoyed.

Why is it that i can put stuff on the grill, get everything ready in the kitchen, flip it one time, and have perfectly done burgers?

When Jim does it, bless his heart, he has to stand there and poke everything (Poke...poke...poke..."Hey Jim, they might cook better if you stopped stabbing them" Poke...poke...poke...) [8|]

If they're veggie, then by all means continue the conversation!

cjan -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/10/2009 7:44:35 AM)

My homemade burgers on the grill, are, of course, the best. However, I do enjoy a bison burger at Ted's Montana Grill every now and then. The bison, being so lean, can become dry when cooked. However, at Ted's they remedy this by lightly dipping the toasted buns (the cut, inside part ) in butter. The result is every bite is juicy and you don't get that full "belly bomb" feeling after. Delicioso !

And, Potty, veggie burgers are a total perversion... no wonder you like them!

ShhhImNotHere -> RE: Best burgers, condiments and sides (2/10/2009 8:04:16 AM)

lean, but not too lean
cooked med rare on grill
(allow to rest to redistribute juices)
thin slice of vidalia onion, beefsteak tomato and lettuce
mayo & ketchup
sea salt & garlic pepper
2 slices of cheese
grilled or toasted bun
