Normally, I'd have a long response...but I'm tired and all I can really think to say is:

I did not care for the trailer and the entire thing made me feel really weird by association. *shrug*

DV's Fox(Who would at the very least use his real first name in any documentary)

At the risk of sounding repetitive ... "Q.E.D." ...... a nicely thought out brief post,I would at the very least do the same.

A BDSM documentary is finishing production in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The title is BDSM: It's not what you think!

If they are trying to get rid of stereotypes, it would be nice if they interviewed people who did not need a "Lord" in front of their name.  Can you hear the collective "eyeroll" from the vanillas who think BDSMers are a sort of glorified D&D/star trek convention/goofy costumers who take them self that seriously?

Agreed. I counted two oh so snazzy leather vests, too. Judging by the content of the trailer, "stereotype" is the first word that came to mind, in fact. The public relations campaign message is loud and clear, even in the title itself: BDSM is not about this or this or that...but says who? Them?

As an aside, the term "BDSM" not only feels a little long in the tooth in 2009, but is so all-inclusive in meaning for so many people it doesn't seem to have much meaning anymore.

Brandi - No, I wouldn't recommend this as a good resource for a beginner. Going by the cast list, the vast majority of kink players are not represented in any capacity. I certainly don't identify with any of 'em.

I do hope that it turns out NOT to be a mocking, elitist "my way or the highway, BTW I do lessons at $250 an hour" type film, but I'm not holding my breath either.

It would have been nice to see some regular joes on the list.

Seriously? It gets the eyeroll from me, lol. I definitely would be in favor of including non "lord" people. Maybe they did, and they just didn't include those people in the trailer?
