Oh there are so many reasons for that.  Anything from wanting to avoid who they really are to simply wanting to string someone along.  Doubt they are valid reasons (are there ever valid reasons to lie?)

Unfortunately that's just a fact of "life" online.  There will always be people who lie about who they are.  It has nothing to do with Ohio, it happens in country and state across the world.  Being online allows people a certain amount of anonymity and takes away their inhibitions.  It allows someone to be whatever they want to be.  To quote the lyrics of an old Savage Garden song (Santa Monica:)

But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be.
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?

It is a true, but little known fact, that the word 'o-hi-o' is from the language of the obscure planet Fay-keer and translates to "the only spot in the universe where liars are found".  The state now known as Ohio was the first colony of Fay-keers on Earth.  They settled here in the Year of Fibbings (approximately 1961 Earth-time).  The Fay-keerian colonists did not survive past 1962 because they all said they were farming and growing food but didn't mean it.  A few of them managed to impregnate 3 or 4  gullible earth women and it is those descendants who are the posers and wanna-bes in BDSM.

Damn, now I think we need to poll all the major cities in all the states on their kinkyness...... Could have folders by states, then the major cities under that, Such as Colorado - Colorado Springs

then we can have 5 catagories under that.

1) kink friendly
2) Parties - Public and amount
3) particulars on the town
4) Comments:
5) Suggestions:
Rate each in a 1 to 5. With 1 being horrid, 5 being the best.

I guess that makes me a fake. I'm from Ohio, and I don't just haul off and meet someone after a hand full of emails.

Maybe you should re-evaluate your expectations? I hear the complaint all the time that so and so isn't genuine, when in reality, so and so just isn't compatible. It seems that your problems have much less to do with the people you're interacting with (though I agree, there are a lot of people that misrepresent themselves), but how you approach meeting people and expectations about compatibility.

I'm an Ohioian, I've met some nice people here. It's the same everywhere you go some people suck, some people are just blah ,and some people are down right awesome.
