It is difficult to describe how it feels to be a switch... Do you like cooked or grilled flesh? Do you like vegetables and a good salad? Grilled beef and cold salad are completely different, but you can like both. And moreover the combination fits great for a hamburger. What I try to say is that you can like both, because both sides have their own attraction. Moreover you don't need both sides permanent, you can eat a meatball OR a salad and either meal makes you saturated. Now let's see how this affects D/s-lifestyle: To live out both ways with the same person is quite difficult. Well, I've forsaken my D/s-life for a vanilla relationship, but that doesn't mean that we have never played... If both partners are able to switch or to tolerate this, it is indeed possible to live out both ways. It's a more laxly life than strict D/s, but an additional reason can be that our relationship is vanilla-based. This sounds very EPE and game-playing-like, but a switch can really grow into his (time-limited) role more and more, it's no switching during a session or something like this. Anyway, a visual sign of the current role helps. Another option would be to separate these roles on different people. I've once been able to try this and I guess that it would work longtime as well. This way keeps the desires satisfied and the roles kept strict.
