I was looking back on some old postings of mine and thought about how much I have changed since I first joined cm. One of the biggest changes is that I am more open to other's kinks. Things that I thought were "No way in hell" are now "I could get into that". I also notice that I am more tolerant with new people, than I used to be. I also look back on some of the threads that other's have posted on and I see marked differences in how they felt then, as opposed to how they feel now.

What kind of changes have you seen in your postings (if any) from the time you started posting on cm and the present? I am not talking about spelling, or grammar. I am talking about how you felt about things..etc..

While I am asking questions, how do you feel about old threads resurrected that you had posted in, and now wish that they were gone? I said in another thread today, that someone had brought an old topic up that my former sub had responded to (3 YEARS ago!) As he had not changed his profile and his signature line, prior to creating a new one, it now appears as though he is still my sub. "I belong to MoGa" ect.. Grrr...

So now I have asked two questions <s> Thanks in advance for responding :)

Hey Pure <Hugs>
Was it something that you read on the boards that made you check out the switchy side of you?

MoGA, when you said yesterday that we could be soul sisters, you were absolutely right!  I've been banging this very topic around in My head the last couple of days.

I'll do the easier question first.  I don't really think there are any threads out there that I've participated in that I wish were gone.  I haven't always had stellar answers for everything, but I think I try to give My perspective on whatever topic that is being discussed at that time.  So, even when My twit side comes out, it's still a reflection of Me.  I think it gives other people out there a more well rounded view of who I am on the other side of the screen..  It also gives them and Me a chance to see the places that I may have grown.

Now, things I've changed My perceptions on.  I'd have to say the pro category is the biggest one.  It's still not going to be for Me, but I accept more that it is for others.  It was actually a lot of folks on these boards who helped Me with that one.  I'm with you on the certain kinds of play/kink issue.  I'm not going to say that one has come directly from the boards, but more about the fact that I've branched out more.  When it comes to S/m play, I'm something of a jack of all trades type.  I want a hand in everything.  LOL.  I'm not too concerned about perfecting all of it.  (This might be why I'm not so much of a rope person.)  I don't think it would be possible for anyone to be an expert at all of the things I enjoy doing.  I'm satisfied with getting My skill at a certain level and playing within that level.

You mentioned one thing that I wanted to address.  I think I'm actually tougher on new people now on the net than I was when I first signed up.  I've become a bit jaded by too many people thinking they've acquired certain top skills just because they've read about them and don't seek out any knowledge in meatlife.  I don't think cyber is ever going to replace real life learning.  The net may be a world of information, but the real world is still the one that's outside of the door.

I haven't changed all that much but where I have changed, it's pretty major. Daddy Doms were a hard limit for me, total squick time, no way in hec, due to some serious misconceptions I had. But when I found myself in love with Lumus and knowing he was a Daddy Dom, he accepted the fact that that wasn't for me. But as things grew between us, I found myself wanting to learn more, to push that boundary. It was through the CM boards that I learned what it was, what it could be about and overcame my misconceptions to go forward into a Daddy Dom/little girl relationship with Lumus. He's more my Daddy than Master but the D/s is always there with us, even when too subtle for other people to recognize.

The other area where CM boards have really helped me change is learning about poly relationships. Again, I had some misconceptions and a few people here very nicely and generously helped me learn. In doing some soul searching, I learned that it's still not for me, I'm strictly a monogamous person and that's how I am.

Now, are there any posts of mine I wish would disappear and never show up? Nope. I've stayed in P&RS for the most part to avoid the drama up in the serious sections though I wander up there every so often when a topic catches my eye.

Greetings MoGa, with many of my old posts, I read what I wrote and I chuckle at some of the beliefs I had that now seem quite silly! Now I'm less willing to put forth a strong opinion and do think twice before deciding if the topic is really worth post on. The second change I have noticed is I am more quick to dish it back to a poster who is deliberately being condescending and being a jackass.

Ditto.  There have been many times where I started to post on a thread and then said, "NAH!"  and turned off my computer!  LOL

When I first started posting here, I was so afraid of being "outed" as a fraud and a newbie.  I used to think, "WOW, these people are all really hardcore, they must know everything about WiiTWD
and I am the ONLY person here who knows absolutely nothing!"

There are a few of my earliest posts that I wish I could delete!  If I had known that I would be meeting Michael, making so many real life friends and airing a good bit of personal dirty laundry (a while back) I would probably have worded things a bit differently..

There are a few horizons that have certainly been expanded since I got here, but I couldn't say for sure whether that is a function of being on these boards, real life experiences or a combination of both.

It seems that you do not get flamed as much now. The only thing that bothered me was being told to look up the old postings before I posted a question. B.S. To much work. If you think that the question has been asked to much then it is time for you to move on. Besides with new people posting it means you get to meet new friends.

I learned how to be snarky in a much more subtle way...it was either that or spend all my time moderated(of course Mod11 is not as impressed with my growth as I am)...

I'm sorry but that last bit made me snort laugh.

Somehow I think Madame Eleven thinks A LOT of us have some growing to do!

lol yep

I don't care if there are old threads that *I* have participated in, what bothers me is the ones that *he* participated in, that has his old siggy line on it.
I have made some really strange comments throughout the years, but have also given some really good advice as well, so maybe it all comes out in the wash after all.

I am the same way. It doesn't bother me that I am not an expert, or the best at something, but I do want to know what I am doing and have enough experience to be comfortable with my sub during a scene. As far as rope? I couldn't tie a knot if I wanted to! lol

Oh I like this! I would love to use it as a sig. line, but I have no room, what with being the Queen of Geoff's world and all! lmao

I also scoff at those who come on the forums from chat-rooms and try to tell us their way is the only one true way. Probably why I am trying to stay off of a certain thread right now

Knowledge is power. I understand this very well. I couldn't stand to be called "Mommy" or anything close to that, but now it doesn't bother me in the least. Not that my own sub calls me that, he doesn't, but when I went through some really rough training with my former, I insisted he call me that, for humiliation reasons. It turned out I liked it. Have I told you lately how cute y'all are? <hugs>

The other area where CM boards have really helped me change is learning about poly relationships. Again, I had some misconceptions and a few people here very nicely and generously helped me learn. In doing some soul searching, I learned that it's still not for me, I'm strictly a monogamous person and that's how I am.

Me too! I was curious and have learned alot from reading posts made by those who were in poly relationships, but I still find that I am a one sub Mistress/one man Woman  But it is interesting to read the interactions between them.

Now, are there any posts of mine I wish would disappear and never show up? Nope. I've stayed in P&RS for the most part to avoid the drama up in the serious sections though I wander up there every so often when a topic catches my eye.

I have just discovered how much fun there is to be had here on the lower parts. <Does that sound as kinky as it appears?> lol I have posted here before, but never as much as I do now. I enjoy getting into the upper meaty parts. <Again, ignore how that sounds>

How funny you should post here Bear, as it was one of your posts that caught my attention when I was reading some of my old stuff. You are right, you are quick to defend, and I love that about you! I don't like that you are less willing to state a strong opinion, but I do understand the reasoning for it. <Hugs> Thanks for responding!

Well, if it regards to a topic I feel passionately about I still will toss in my $10 worth! I just temper myself by not always jumping on my soapbox at every little thing now.

BSB,
I remember those newbie days lol

I am almost the same way right now, I wonder how many times I have thought of a topic that I would like to post about, but I change my mind while sitting there figuring out what to say. We are no longer newbies, but there is always that thought in the back of my mind that says "someone is going to call you on this" and I feel like I have to cite my sources etc..how sad is that?

Raymond,
I still hate it when newbies are told to look up old threads and when they do, they get told that the thread is years old and what are they responding to? It is a catch 22 for any new member who is seeking information.

I understand what BoiJen was saying about those who come on and ask the same stupid questions "How can I get a Mistress?". "How come dominants dont pay attention to me?" and the one that takes the cake "How can I train my submissive/slave?". These are all questions that CAN be researched anywhere on the net. People seem to want to walk the easy path, when all it takes is a few clicks of their mouse and some time to do the reading. They expect instant gratification. But then again, we live in a society that expects instant results. <Sigh>

You're right though, asking those of us who are here now, will create friendships :)

The formality of my earlier posts surprise me a bit, the content does too in a way. Sometimes it is like reading a strangers words that I simply happen to agree with because with my memory problems I often don't remember posting.

Most of the time I am pleased with what I wrote but I can't shake the feeling that someone else wrote them. My online journal is similar but since I reveal so much more I feel a stronger connection to the early writings.

Good grief, talk about jumping on a soap box...I just jumped on my own here on this thread lol I happen to like people who feel passionate about a topic. I just don't like to be pounded down with their words to the point of me wanting to put them on ignore.

It does show. But some of the things that you are less tolerant about, are the same things that I am more tolerant about. Isn't that strange? <s>
