ORIGINAL: DedicatedDom40 I dont think Jon Stewart has ever pretended to be 'down the middle'. And in fact, he openly gets a kick out of those who believe such and then criticize the left angle they see. I do watch his show because he is funny, and if conservatives cannot laugh at themselves sometimes, then they are in deeeep trouble. Unless you dont have a pulse, you can't tell me that the 'destroying dough' joke wasn't funny. Jim Cramer wasn't the target, but instead was merely a "face on the problem" of media overhype that drives armchair investors towards buying into bubble markets. Seriously, this is the first near-depression we have experienced since the coming of the 24 hr cable news channel. You can't tell me they didnt play a part in this tragedy. Naturally, you are going to get a bit of defensive spin from the media conglomerates. The unedited version of that conversation with Cramer has been posted to the Daily Show website. I stopped watching CNBC and FNN back at the turn of the century. It was glaringly obvious that, with very few exceptions (David Faber comes to mind, for his occasional honest reports), that the talking heads were nothing more than pimps and touts. I learned a LOT more from Graham and Dodd, " Warren Buffett, the only student in Graham's investment seminar to earn an A+[1], made billions of dollars by methodically and rationally implementing the tenets of Graham and Dodd's book." Wikipedia; my Financial Analysis textbook, and The Motley Fool. And Cramer was one of the biggest pimps extant; he admitted as much to Stewart. But I agree with him insofar as wanting to see lots of indictments and funds recovery, starting with AIG. I started pulling money out of the markets back around 2000 (made a 500% return over 3 years in CSCO; mid 6 figures) and buying houses, most of which I sold in 2006. Hell, half the stocks on NASDAQ didn't have PEs; they had no earnings, they were just burning venture capital and IPO proceeds. (My ex and I were worth 12 million for a day - - on paper) And it's my considered opinion that charting is bullshit. Clapton Stewart is God.
