1. Introduction

The following is the definitive list of dominant females in mainstream films, television, and literature. It is a work in progress. Eventually, it should contain reference to all major movies that have femdom elements.

Each film is accompanied by a set of ratings.

Evilness: Completely non-evil, simply kinky, comical, or "cartoonishly" evil characters score low. Genuinely bad people score higher. Truly evil, psychologically abusive women score highest.

Screen time: If the female dominance elements of the film are brief, score low. If the entire movie revolves around the dominant female, score high.

Hotness: Subjective determiination of how arousing the character is. Remember that the rating refers to the character and her actions, not the actress herself.

Not difinitive by any stretch but certainly evidence of your making your opinionated list a strong point of focus for your energies.

Kind of sad that dominant females are judged on evilness on this list...

That being said, I think Irina Spalko from last year's Indiana Jones movie needs to make it into any list of evil dominant film females. When I watched it last year I couldn't help but wonder if there was some pubescent straight sub male in the audience feeling tingly during her screen time.

That's a poor, misleading description of what happened to Lester Burnham. Angela was also far from dominant.

When Lester stops short with Angela, its his moment of grace, and it was more tender and beautiful then it was "hot" or "evil."

To me, the hotest woman on the list was Poison Ivy played by Umma Thurman.

Geez, everybody cut the OP a break! Of course the list is subjective; lists like this always are. And really, does somebody ALWAYS have to chirp in to argue about what is "really" or "truly" dominant or submissive?

Just take the list for what it is: an attempt to pull together a lot of female characters that seem to fit a general, broad definition of "dominant". I'm personally grateful to the OP for doing this, as the list contains many interesting entries with which I am not familiar. I'm definitely going to check some of them out, as they look pretty exciting.

Second   Alice from Resident Evil...very take charge type of Gal!

Geez, everybody cut the OP a break!

No.

I get REALLY tired of media stereotypes of female power that cannot distinguish between being dominant and being evil.  The OP and all submissive men who share this woman-hating, demonizing death trip can truly and SINCERELY fuck off and die.

I am not Ilse Koch or Elizabeth Bathory.  Dominant men do not have to live in a world where there is never a Zeus, a King Arthur or a Robin Hood to balance the Hades/Satan, Caligula and Jack the Ripper stereotypes.  MALE dominance in our society is not cast solely in the negative, with the premise that men cannot have power unless they are abusing it brutally, hatefully and stupidly.  I see no reason to put up with this sterotype being laid on me and other female dominants; there's nothing "submissive" about throwing buckets of hate-filth on me.

Crap like this makes me so angry that I hope the OP and every male submissive like him get EXACTLY what they're looking for--an evil bitch who will use, destroy and kill them.  Women like Irma Grese are exactly who they're looking for, and exactly who they deserve.

Sweet jesus tap-dancing christ...*facepalm*

Aside: Darias, how in the hell do you define beating up a mobster who breaks into your house as "evil"?

The Devil Wears Prada
Sadistically female boss treats employees like crap and seemingly gets a kick out of giving them impossible tasks. Countered with a very submissive, obedient female character whose only goal in life becomes to try the impossible: to please her boss.
Evilness: Extremely *****

All accolades and criticisms ultimately fall to me.  I'm the auteur behind Toxic Treat, and although I haven't seen all the films on the list, I ultimately am the one who set out the criteria.   So, when I heard about all the commotion, I thought it proper to drop in and explain the list, my site, and myself.

As a first trivial aside-- some of the films on the list have women who aren't even particularly dominant, but who are just violent action heroes.  In the interests of creating an exhaustive list, I've allowed them onto the list, but they're very different from what sort of thing I'm interested in myself.   For a lot of males, any desirable woman who is violent stimulates their "female domination" circuits-- but it mostly makes me yawn.

My site, and indeed, my sexuality and many facets of my social identity, involve what might loosely be called "evil fetish".  For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed doing very mean things to people.  Even better, I enjoy making people do very mean things to themselves.   I was "stimulated" by such thoughts and actions since childhood-- indeed, long before I had any conception of sexuality, I still got a definite charge from being cruel or making others suffer.

I realize of course that this is a long, long way from a "traditional" bdsm style relationship, where both dominant and submissive enter into things with total sanity, consensuality, and mutual love.  Such relationships certainly are the "norm" within bdsm, it would see.   But that's just not who I am.

Indeed, I don't even know if my interests deserve to be called "bdsm".  The thought of handcuffs or ropes bore me.  A whip or a paddle isn't something I'd ever use.  I don't want to be called "Mistress" or "Goddess".   Most of the trimmings of BDSM are just not something that appeal to me.

On the other hand-- making someone fall totally in love with me and then breaking their heart?   heaven.
Honestly, truthfully pointing out another's faults until they begin to sob?  hot.
Inspiring someone to take steps to sabotage their own relationships, their own career, their own happiness--   exciting.

Perhaps I'm not "bdsm"-- perhaps I'm just evil.  That's really why I got started Toxic Treat--  because whatever I am, I'm not a normal dominant, I'm something else.  And the people I've shared that side of myself seem just as baffled as I am when it comes to what makes me the way I am, how prevalent are these interests, etc.

In any case, I thought I would stop by to say that I am aware the site is a poor representation of "traditional female-power" and "female-dominant relationships".   It's not accidental-- indeed, the very fact that the my own 'style' of interaction seems so far removed from normal-- that's the very reason I decided to bring people together to create the site in the first place.  Precisely because I've never met anyone like me.

Kink is, almost by definition, a rarity.  Kinky females a further rarity.  Dominant women are even rarer still-- and yet, even when I look at the population of dominant women, I still haven't met anyone who has my same 'orientation' toward mindgames and emotional pain.

Interested to hear what people have to say.

Sophia

p.s.
My thanks to those who recommended films that were missing from the list-- they've been added to a queue of films that need to be reviewed.    Do post/email more as they occur.

I'd say that anyone who has nothing better to do than review that many films for female dominance doesn't have much of a life.

My personal guides in domination seem to be a mix of  Ripely in Alien(s) (less so the other films) and Glenn Close in Dangerous Liaisons.

being mean isnt being dominant... its being mean, half the movies dont have a Dominant female in it, it has people being mean. being a bitch and being a Dom doesnt equal each other.

This is exactly what I was thinking, too.

As a dominant person myself I find the idea that we equate among ourselves this idea that evil = dominant to be insulting and worrisome. Then we wonder why the rest of the world thinks what we do is bad or unhealthy? I konw we can't always control what turns us on but I, for one, try to differentiate between different motivations and reasons for what appear to be the same actions and interactions.

Agreed. You are exactly the kind of person I would never let into my circle of influence and indeed think you're a pox on the species.

I'd wish you good luck finding...whatever it is that makes you happy, but no, I sincerely hope you stay miserable for the good of many, many people.
