I was just wondering-- for those of you who have had multiple pregnancies-- do you find that your pregnancies were generally the same? Or maybe they were completely different...

For example- if you had morning sickness in your first pregnancy, did you also, with the other(s)?

Just wondering...

I had ten. They were all different, but one thing that remained the same was the nausia and my body thinking it was a bad thing for me and rejecting it. Everyone is different though. I had one that was actually pleasent for a few months and I never felt better than I did those few months.

Just remember if you are having a rough time... that pay off!

My two pregnancies were completely different - pre. 1. carpal tunnel, classic migraines, pre-eclampsia, 4th degree tear, pushing for 4 hours.
pre. 2. none of the above.

Just as a matter of interest, both of my kids are completely different also.

Mine were very much the same. Oddly enough, two totally different kids though.

i had two pregnancies. #1 included morning sickness/throwing up for the first three months (eeewwwww), a completely natural childbirth, and a mellow son. #2 i had the dry heaves for three months, had Demerol for the birth, and a daughter who grew up to be a driven individual. Both of them, except for the first three months and the births, i felt fantastic.

Not two pregnancies are ever the same. It's one of the great mysteries of obstetrics.

I only had one...thank the Gods...I was absolutly miserable the whole nine months. 4 months of morning/afternoon/evening sickness; lethargy to the point of not being able to function; moodiness...and that was just a small part...from the 6th month on I had to be hospitalized with 23 hour bed rest..I was only allowed out of bed for 2 hours a day....it totally sucked. I was so glad the big guy did not want anymore.

BUT...it was more than worth it. The actual delivery went very nicely...9 hours but almost pain free actually.

I am still glad that I never had to go through it again though. I have the greatest respect for women who have more than one.

Two great pregnancies, one more difficult (maternal diabetes) but not horrid.

Two great births, one filled with unanticipated complexities.

I am pregnant with number 7. All the pregnancies were different. Some I had horrible morning sickness that lasted all day (including this one). Some I barely got sick at all. Some I had horrendous heartburn. Some not so bad. I slept a lot with all of them because I always seemed to be tired. I had painful contractions early on in some of the pregnancies and in others didn't seem to have much pain at all until the real contractions started. So far none of them had any real complications though. Half of them had to be induced and the other half decided to come on their own.

Labor was the one steady thing though. With an epidural (4 of them) it was a piece of cake. Without the epidural it was the most awful pain I have ever felt and not in a good way. The results were always worth it though!

Morning sickness with both, but worse with the first.
Food cravings and aversions generally different except for the aversion to fish, which lasted for some years.
Labor entirely different.
Personalities entirely different.

the symptoms this slave experienced with regards to the 3 pregnancies were all the same. they were born within a 5 year window(age 20-25). the labor and delivery(4-5 hours) was all the same. the only differences being how much she tore and how soon her breasts failed to provide milk, which she believes was directly related to their size at birth--6 lbs., almost 8 and 8.6.

You ran out of milk? I was a cow. Especially with the first. I was so engorged those little battery pumps were useless. Had to rent the hospital ones from La Leche.

But you do temporarily have to feed a lot more frequently when they hit a growth spurt. Every couple of weeks in the beginning if I remember correctly. And after two days, the milk supply usually grows to match demand.

yes, literally...and it was a dissapointment, as this slave had wanted to continue, but at least 2-3 weeks after each one, including La Leche League and registered nurse support, this slave dried up.

it is one of the reasons she posts to the induced lactation threads that not everyone is cut out for it...and not to feel bad if you fail after doing all that you possibly could, if you happen to be one that isn't.

The first few months of my pregnancy, I was getting headaches, and thought I was having premature menopause,,,the rest was easy except for her being a month late and having to be induced. The second went fine until the 8th month when he kicked my hip out of socket and I had to be on crutches for 4 months....he was a month late also and needed to be induced.
My milk dried up with my 2nd child with having pneumonia.... I tried so hard to get it back, but couldnt. I loved breast feeding.

i've had two kiddos...i think part of the reason mine were so different was because as i generally say it "i had two only kids". thing one was 11 when thing two was born.

with my daughter, i had some pre-term labor, not too bad, 22 hours of back labor and a wonderful little girl at the end. i was 19.

with my son, i had contractions bad enough that by 3 months i was put on total bed rest, i was only allowed out for bathroom visits and dr appointments. then after 26 hours of labor we had an unexpected c-section. maybe because the little beastling was 9 pounds 13 oz? good grief.

kitten, who wouldnt trade them for anything.

Sometimes, like recently looking at my boy handle the pups and being so kind to me, I think about what a wonderful thing it would be to have a baby. But I really shouldn't have read this thread. Between the horror stories of morning sickness lasting all day for months to the baby kicking your hip out (?!?!?!) and maternal diabetes, it just ain't for me. I'll be sure to adopt a cute one, though.

You are young yet......enjoy life taking care of yourself first!!! Having children is the best thing that has ever happened in my life....but it happened in my later life. I had my first child at 41...not a choice...just how it happened.
I was able to have some really fine material things, build up my career, meet many different people, have adventure, fun, freedom to do as I wished. It was easy with only having myself to worry about. Now, I have a different life...but it is a life filled with a different adventure and fun, and the carefree times have to be scheduled and preplanned.
Enjoy life!!!! Learn and grow within yourself first!!!

The third one was different, but only because of the last months of bed rest. i was carrying triplets and my Doctor decided precautions were needed if i was to carry full term. More are planned
