'Pin Cushion' Needle play - 4/3/2009 8:34:53 AM

I have been experimenting with needle play recently and am curious about the 'pin cushion' technique vs. skin piercing, specifically on the breasts and buttocks. What methods do other Doms prefer? Are there any different health and safety issues with this technique? Is it more fun/painful to insert needles slowly or 'jab' them in using a quick motion?

Try using a blow pipe and your subject as the target... Works wonders especially with acupuncture needles.

Just don't try needle play on anybody filled with piss and wind as you might get splattered..

well i had the feeling of being a pin cushion when i was in the hospital this past week and they were taking blood two to three times a day and intraveniously putting stuff in me

not fun at all

also when those who want brath play or mummification is when one definetly needs oxygen like i do to breath

this is all due to the fact that i am being in the process of having my name on the national transplant list for a double lung transplant

i personally cannot do the mummification or breath play but those who do please take care in what u do

Best answer i can here for needles is find someone willing to teach you. watch it demo, learn the techniques and reasons for those techniques and then practice some.

I also vote for the blow dart gun.. way awesome.

needles use for the pin cushion tend to be the short small ones.. we keep 1/2" 25 and 27 around for that use.

Regular needle play (for us)  tend to be 1" to 1 1'2" long and that length is deep for straight in.

I'll agree with goodpet. I was lucky enough to have a Mistress who is one of the best needle players in this area teach me needle play. Normal needle play for me is to use needles in decorative patterns, some which I have glues feathers of various colours in to create another dimension. I always 1.24 inch 21 gauge needles as they work well for me. I like the slow approach in most cases where I can ease the needle in and out, especially when crossing them. But then I prefer doing precision work tryine to build a body are picture oft in a Celtic patterning. I wash the target's skin with a surgical wash and always wear gloves which are changed anytime I take a break or wipe swear from my face.. Its just my way but I try to keep things as sterile as is possible.

Most fleshy / fatty areas, like the breasts and buttocks, pose limited risks.  The big risk with any needle play is infection; the skin is covered in bacteria regardless of how clean the person may be.  Surgical scrubs help a lot, but even the finest hospitals have about a 3% infection rate.  As long as your play partner is not immune comprimised due to HIV or medication such as those used after an organ transplant, go ahead.

As for technique, I vote for slow.  Needle play is as much about the mind fuck as the needle itself.  SHOW the nasty little spike to your sub, ASK her how she would like it if you poked it through her nipple, DISPLAY the number that you intend to use.  Then enjoy.  Inserting a long one all the way through, then drawing it back to the halfway point is nice.  So is gently pulling it back and forth a few time to get it centered.

slower is more painful. make sure needles are sterile if you are poking or piercing. bug pins are cheap and work good. make sure you count how many you use and how make you take out. count them ahead of time, make sure none fall onto the floor.

To add to my last post here, I prefer to use fine point surgical marking pens (for health reasons) for marking the initial patterns and have used such things like henna to give light and shade or to add fine details as well as at one stage used coloured wax used with a reasonable distance kept between the needles and the wax areas. Whilst the Needle Play is the main focus there is no reason to ignore other skin which can be enhanced using other techniques. To save anyone from asking, no I haven't as yet taken any photos of work I have done.

I'm a big fan of needle play.  So without the safety patrol speech, (you're already getting that) I prefer a slow and deliberate technique.  His back was used more for a temporary  piercing design and his butt was the pin cushion.

i used to spend money on those sterile surgical pens. but after you use them on someone, they are not sterile anymore. when i draw on someone for a tattoo or a piercing i just use sharpies now. i start with yellow to get a basic image then move on to a darker color to refine it. then even darker for the final  image before i start my procedure.

i then wipe the tips of the marker off with surgical wipes, and i rarely reuse them on people, i use them for other things around the hope and home. if have shaven the skin and risk breaking it even slightly( preparing for a tattoo by shaving the skin) i do not re use, as to avoid cross contamination. a piercing i will reuse marker as i clean surface of skin with alcohol and then a surgical scrub. each station has its own procedure.

i am shocked to see how many are more concerned with the pain factor than they are concerned about the risk, and safety issues. its a good way to contact and transmit, staph, hep,HIV, and a few others i am sure

You make a good point regarding the use of surgical pens, I simply follow the same procedure that is used in hospitals here although to be fair, I do use a new pen for each person which is easy because firstly I don't have enough subjects willing to use needle play with me (More so since I do not mix and mingle with the local crowd) and secondly all my needle play requisites which I can purchase from my medical and surgical supplier, I claim on tax so save there in any case. However I agree with your comment on the safety aspect and would like more folk to become more aware of even basic hygiene required.

I find this part interesting.
I give and take needles and I take in the same way that I like to give. Funny but I don't think of it as BDSM at all and the few times my partner has tried to boss me into taking needles, I have totally freaked out.
The other night we sat chatting whilst he prepared me up for some 3 inch canulars through the breast. He told me he wanted to go under the entire nipple and I said 'absolutely no way'. He then helped me to get into the right head space which is a tranquil and beautiful place and he proceeded to put 4 needles under the entire nipple without difficulty.
I have to space to take extreme needle play and the people I put needles in tend to be very much like me.

I use an iodine pen or a small bottle of iodine with a qtip dipped in.

I agree with you regarding the safety side of things. Nobody should really be doing this without some full on good information, including what to do if you get a needle stick.

@MasterofVenice,
IMHO, the difference between the pin cushion and the "in one side and out the other" is gauge. The pin cushion is done with fine diabetic type needles. The ones that go under the skin for the in and out - those are lower gauge vet needles (I use 18 or 20). The larger ones allow for a bit of play without tearing the skin. Glove up and use normal blood play precautions.

Hope that helps,
Poetsfate

Acupuncture needles work well especially when used with a blow pipe

Try putting acupuncture needles in a circle around the nipple. Make a circle with finger and thumb of one hand and put the needles in with the other. The great thing about acupuncture needles is they are encapsulated and so your not going to give yourself a needle stick. When they are all in take the hand away and the needles will open up like a flower. You can run your fingers through them which will create some great sensations or you can touch the end with burning Chinese flax or even a cigar to create heat runs.

The other thing you can do with acupuncture needles is create a porcupine effect. It takes time but its worth the effort.
