I attended the Fetish Fair Flea Market and saw some lovely, affordable butt plugs made of Aluminum, which seem practical for ease of cleaning/sterilizing, as well as potential sadism devices (since they can be cooled down before insertion, etc.), and now am wondering if they are safe to insert without condom repeatedly and over periods of time?.

The amount of aluminium that goes into the food, when using an aluminium pan, depends on the pH of the food. For example tomatoes are acid (low pH) and take more aluminium from the pan than food with a higher pH. I know the vagina has a low pH (around 4), so you shouldn't use an aluminium dildo in the vagina. I don't know the pH of the anus, but the stomach is around 4, and it tends to be lower if the person is stressed and or eats junk food.
So my answer would be not to use them, or with a condom. I wouldn't want more aluminium than necessary in my blood. It's not clear whether or not aluminium is related to Alzheimer's disease, but I'd let other people find out.
Note : (acid means pH<7, the pH is a measure of the free protons floating in what you're measuring)

This is a big part of my concern, and why I ask for the benefit of my sub, not mine, since I haven't any intention of using these specific toys on myself (I prefer the softer uhm... I mean only slightly softer, more natural feeling ones ).

Thanks for the thoughtful response dorechan. M

Hoping for some feedback from people who've maybe used metal/aluminum toys? Any concerns over safety? Thanks, M

Do you now? I ask because I am pretty sure they say it "aluminium."

There shouldn't be any safety concerns. The aluminum used in cookware is not the same machinable grade used to make insertable toys, and it's not being brought up to temperature like cookware, so I think the concern about aluminum leeching into your (or your sub's) systems is a non-issue or a miniscule one at best.

Thank you Stef, I was hoping you'd drop by with info for me.

Thanks Justheather and Chaingang; if only we could have a group call with a couple of Brits to have each say aluminum (I love some accents too). M

Just remember, the way Americans say it can be hummed along to the music of "Mahna Mahna - Lullaby of Birdland" while the way British folk say it cannot!
