Connections are rare, intense connections are even rarer. However, if things are not right, no amount of connection is going to correct that emptiness you felt before. However, it is difficult to know ahead of time, if getting back together will lead to a lifetime of happiness or another train wreck. If you haven't tried at least once, I would think you a fool though.

Stand your ground, examine why you felt empty and look for solutions WITH him. If they are not forthcoming, walk away.
