Careful, tread softly here on this (ahem) free speech forum...the GOPPERS will get you......They seem to forget the happenings around 9-11, the emergency powers act, the enabling act...oh, wait, I have my eras mixed up, ......okay, here we go, the patriot act, one & two, PAC Amercia....statements like "if you are not with us, then you are against us.

If you want to get along (with GOPPERS) then go along...don't forget, they feed on RL feces like pigs to the trough.

Forget reality.

The ' Chicks ' had every right to run down our President in concert after concert. Their fans also had their right, or choice. They voiced their opinion by not buying  CD's and not attending concerts..It is a free Country, for now..

Actually........this fan and many others made sure to buy their CD's afterwards.

When I pay money to go to a concert, I want to hear music, not hate speech and anti American pap from some liberal artist. Where are they now ?

Living better than you and I, off of their royalties. I admire them for speaking out and saying what many of us felt but didn't have the public voice to say. Bush IS a moron and he made a lot of people ashamed to be US citizens. Thank god that is over.......

If I was your typical political forum debate addict I would spend the rest of my afternoon using bait and switch tactics and come up with all the horrible things our last president did, including the thug of all thugs, his VP..........as a diversionary tactic.

The reality is that while I did read each of the links you provided, and found one to be quite troubling as discussing what I would consider legitimate thugs, I do not believe any of the people that were on trial are, in fact, in office.

I do not believe that sharing a political belief, or skin colour, gives a person entree' into the White House. If that was the case, then I could say that the last administration was a bunch of honourable gentlemen. Since I knew several white males, whom I respect, that voted for, and believed in, GW.

I am not in love with, our current president. He was not my first choice. However, when faced with the final two choices, I felt he was definitely the best choice. The reasons I felt that way have not changed. Since I've been sick I've not followed every single decision he has made but I am quite certain I would not always be in 100% agreement with him. I doubt there is any politician in existance I would be. Over all, I am happy with the job he is doing. That being said, there are a few years left.

Like the honourable men I mentioned above, after 8 years, I may change my mind about the candidate I supported. They certainly did.

Considering that I belong to AIM, the Native American Congress and other Native American groups, every one of which are on the Homeland Security Watch List for "seditionist" ideologies, I have some major problems with the law.

Unless there have been changes on the list in the last two years, I feel that there are a lot of groups on the list that should not be there.

Any Ideology can be twisted by the government to be the cause for arrest under this law.

I mean technically, any group that protests against the law of the land could fall under this category, even the right to life movement, civil liberties union to name two.

Thank you Sanity.  When I typed that comment, I was actually thinking about the car-dealership closings.  Yes, it is an opinion piece, but it has a bunch of links in it, and all of the numbers are not in yet.

(7) Individuals prone to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence span all races, ethnicities, and religious beliefs, and individuals should not be targeted based solely on race, ethnicity, or religion.

(8) Any measure taken to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism in the United States should not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, or civil liberties of United States citizens or lawful permanent residents.

(9) Certain governments, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have significant experience with homegrown terrorism and the United States can benefit from lessons learned by those nations.

The above are quotes from HR1955, a bill that is currently under debate in the Senate, it has already cleared the house.

Now, article 9, suggests that the US take lessons from other countries.....

However, the United Kingdom has imprisoned members of Senn Fenn and ideological supporters of the IRA who never used a gun OR planted a bomb, some without trial.....

Preventing 'Ideological Terrorism' means arresting people for personal philosophies, which may or may not be considered terror related by the average person.

For the record, some groups that have been placed on the watch list for 'ideologies' which are considered seditionist by the Department of Homeland Defense includes, but are not limited to, Religious affiliated groups protesting the war, Native American groups promoting Native American rights AND compensation for treaty violations.

Consider some of your thoughts, beliefs both religious and moral, and ask the question, "Can I be arrested for this?"

With reference to the Sinn Fein point and presuming (correct me if I'm wrong) you mean "internment", if there's one thing the USA can learn from the UK (the crown, actually) ... it did not have the desired effect, in fact, quite the opposite could be argued,  you won't hear that from the crown worshipers ... but then honesty has never been their strong point.
From first hand experience, those sort of powers are dangerous in the wrong hands, if the US should implement them in a similar way it will be a matter of time before similar suffering and miscarriages of justice occur.

If they pass that Hate crimes bill the 1st amendment is toast, Dr Paul Craig Roberts wrote about it and said it will cover speech. Then the First Fraud in the New York Times, it is Russia under the Commissars:

Obama Is Said to Consider Preventive Detention Plan
By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG
Published: May 20, 2009
WASHINGTON — President Obama told human rights advocates at the White House on Wednesday that he was mulling the need for a “preventive detention” system that would establish a legal basis for the United States to incarcerate terrorism suspects who are deemed a threat to national security but cannot be tried, two participants in the private session said.

Hmmm. . . since we now have Chicago-thug-politics in the White House, YES!

I just read an interseting Op/Ed peice from PRAVDA which seems to share your opinion in this, and so I thought I might share a small portion of it here since it seems so relevant (bold emphasis mine):

quote:

American capitalism gone with a whimper

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people...

...The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

"Preventive Incarceration" is a violation of the Constitution, which guarantees due process.

Again, with HR1955 there is a violation of the first amendment, added to the preventive incarceration idea, throw due process, miranda rights, etc out the window.

If you really want evidence of just what a joke the GOP has become you've presented a prime example.

Yes, the whole auto industry bailout, which began under a Republican President, was really just a cover to drive wealthy, successful Republican car dealers out of business.

Absolutely amazing.

Now you are going to quote Pravda to attack Obama?

I can only imagine what you would have said had anyone posted a Pravda quote critical of Bush.

I quoted PRAVDA to underscore the fact that Aylee and I are not alone in viewing the current occupants of the White House in terms of Chicago-style thug politicians.

Russians can see it... from Russia, is the point.

Try reading the part that I bolded again, maybe it'll become more clear for you now that I've explained it to you.
