"Preventive Incarceration" is a violation of the Constitution, which guarantees due process.

No shit?

Where were you the last eight years?

Yelling about the entire process, from letters to CNN to posts on political blogs, as well as other points.

The point I was attempting to make is that it is in violation of the constitution, and anyone that doesnt know it has been going on for 8 years is either blind or ignorant.

I quoted PRAVDA to underscore the fact that Aylee and I are not alone in viewing the current occupants of the White House in terms of Chicago-style thug politicians.

Russians can see it... from Russia, is the point.

Try reading the part that I bolded again, maybe it'll become more clear for you now that I've explained it to you.

Try explaining to me why you are quoting Pravda in the first place.

If ANY liberal poster had quoted Pravda you would have jumped all over them.

But I guess they're not really communist/socialist as long as they are attacking someone who you don't approve of.

Interesting though that Obama's opponents label him a socialist and you are trying to attack him with the words of a recently communist (and maybe still so) propaganda publication.

The ' Chicks ' had every right to run down our President in concert after concert. Their fans also had their right, or choice. They voiced their opinion by not buying  CD's and not attending concerts..It is a free Country, for now..

Actually........this fan and many others made sure to buy their CD's afterwards.

If you were able to.

The backlash didn't come from the fans as much as from corporate blacklisting. Under the Bush administration's media consolidation, only five companies were allowed to own nearly all radio, newspaper and TV media throughout the USA. I find it very hard to argue that the opinion of five media CEOs amounts to "it's a free country". Even more so since these five CEOs were subject to serious pressure from the White House to begin with (remember Helen Thomas?)

The event where "fans" were encouraged to trash their CDs was also corporate-organized.

Again, with HR1955 there is a violation of the first amendment, added to the preventive incarceration idea, throw due process, miranda rights, etc out the window.

We know...

When did you figure it out?

I was screaming foul when the first patriot act was made into law.  The problem is that people are foolish enough to believe that HR1955 poses no threat to civil rights.

Sorry. Couldn't hear you guys arguing. I was locked up in this fenced in "free speech zone" left over from the last administration. Not much in the way of opinion gets in or out of these things you know... Being miles from whatever event the folks locked up in them were trying to protest...

I wonder what would have happened, had Obama tried to pen up the teabaggers the same way the anti-war protesters were given the "temporary gulag" treatment?

The two faced, short term memory loss of some of the folks around here is really starting to make me gag.

Try reading what I posted - I explained why I quoted PRAVDA.

And it's funny that you're calling PRAVDA communist, because they're saying that Obama is far too far left to suit them.

Imagine that. Communists, afraid of how far left Obama is...

Is there a comedy award available on CM I wonder?

I'm finding quite a few acts on here worthy of nomination though I particularly like the "US is becoming a socialist country" routine. Absolutely hilarious!

You would think that the people at PRAVDA would know when a country was slithering into socialism when they saw it.

Wouldn't you?

Back on topic though - the current tactic Homeland Security is using, namely labeling Veterans and other patriots as "Terrorists" does reek substantially of old Soviet era tactics. Democrats are even discussing the elimination of free speech on the Internet and the radio dial...

Yeah, I would say it's a concern.

Oh okay, I get it now.

You were just trying to say that you support the communist viewpoint.

No biggie, just I never would have taken you for a communist sympathizer, but hell, this isn't the 1950's anymore so you probably won't get blacklisted.

So I say da to you comrade Sanity.

Then I'm with you, and it troubles me Obama is going down the same path as Bush.

Crush -> RE: How soon until there is a new 'Thought Police' Agency? (5/30/2009 11:17:34 AM)

The "Thought Police" got a start with "Political Correctness"

see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_correctness for a brief  (see various cited works)

Once we try to control the speech of others we are in reality attempting to control thoughts of even more people, since they will never hear the "politically incorrect" version...

Owner59 -> RE: How soon until there is a new 'Thought Police' Agency? (5/30/2009 12:46:09 PM)

We have thought police now.Semi-official even.

Kinda like the self appointed gangs in Muslim countries, who enforce a political/religious code. They pretend to have god on their side and a monopoly on patriotism and the people`s best interest in mind.

But like the book burners and book banners and others who quash dissent here in the states, they really aren`t patriots or lovers of god or of freedom.

Phil Donahue and Bill Maher are real examples of people being fired and damage done. These are the not paranoid day dreams the right comes up w/, out of boredom.

TheHeretic -> RE: How soon until there is a new 'Thought Police' Agency? (5/30/2009 1:26:27 PM)

That's funny...  I'd swear Bill Maher was one of the reasons we decided to keep the HBO after the three month free trial...  So did these "thought police" clone him or something?  They certainly didn't create a politically correct version.

Sanity -> RE: How soon until there is a new 'Thought Police' Agency? (5/30/2009 2:07:45 PM)

No, I am not an Obama supporter.

Hmmm. . . since we now have Chicago-thug-politics in the White House, YES!

The existence of HR1955 and it having passed only the HOR, has nothing whatever to do with this White House making this post just more ridiculous partisan tripe.

We are becoming more and more like China everyday...except less capitalistic.

You would be correct in that China is the new modern role model of capitalist fascism using communism in name only to maintain the latter. However in our race to that bottom (or top if you are an investor big enough) we are becoming more capitalist.

Give this some time as it just takes time to turn such a huge middle class into slaves.
