I think that the idea there is that with legalization comes regulation, more work on the FDA to figure out which things are "safe enough"

I dont consider pot a real drug, because (Unlike Heroine) I have never seen someone so stoned that they literally tore the skin of thier arm off because they said they were "itchy" and because (Unlike meth) I never saw someone wash thier hands to the point where thier fingernails were broken and the skin on thier hands looked like raw hamburger

The idea that everything should be legal is ridiculous, however I will agree that our so called war on drugs is failing, since the drugs we are supposed to be stopping are easier to get than ever.

The real trick is to concentrate on stopping the shit that will cause serious, sometimes long term damage. the things that are less painful than a few shots of cheap vodka should be legal

Has anyone found the number of deaths caused by tasers? im pretty sure that if they were as lethal as a few people on here claimed, then they would no longer be used, especially considering the added expense in buying enough of them for the cops to use.

Still saying if there is a cop twice my size, and I have been enough of a dick that his options are beating me down and tasering me I will be crying for that electricity.

In most 'stats' I have seen, when a taser 'has' killed, it was almost never the sole factor. Such can be evidenced by this very story. A 72-year-old woman. Old. You'd think...weak heart....frail....certainly seen younger days. She took the jolt and survived. She clearly had no extraneous factors that would have led to her death.

I have seen cops tase a guy who took it and kept coming. Everyone reacts differently. A cop isn't going to know if you have a bum ticker, only you do. So when faced with such a situation, it behooves you not to push the issue and put the cop in danger. If you do, what comes of his response is entirely on you...such as was the case here.

I have a silly question. Would have been different if this was a little old man? Would you have been up in arms over a "frail old man" who the cop should have been able to handle?
I can think of a man only 3 years younger than this woman who I would taser rather than fight. His name is Chuck Norris. Age doesn't mean frail nor does it mean they get a free pass to ignore the law.

In his 70s or 80s. I bet he would have still been dangerous too. And Jackie Chan is 55. I'm sure he wouldn't be considered frail and elderly.

those are all great examples of men that will almost always seem to be in the "Prime" of their life.

Hey! I found legit, referenced material from a reputable site, that provides numerous medical and other scientific sites, about the fatality rate of tasers (Though I am dead certain that it will still be refuted and argued against, so if anyone has any other references, especially differing ones, please link them)

Not sure who that was a question for, but in my perspective; no.

The issue wasn’t about being able to 'handle her’; it was whether or not he had the opportunity to defuse the situation before it got to the point of using the taser.

Not only did he have the opportunity to defuse, but he was a contributing factor to the escalation.

Truth and necessity should have been the deciding factors, not his ego.

What do you mean gonna? More like has been. She seeems to think that you can bait a cop, then assault a cop and resist arrest and he has to be nice to you. (He doesn't.)

She seems to think you should be able to say "oh nevermind....I'll sign the ticket" but you can't. Once a cop says "you're under arrest" you are UNDER ARREST and he must follow through. It's similar to the rules for a citizen's arrest. If I grab you and deter your leaving an area and say you're under citizens arrest, when I inform the cops of that they MUST come and take custody of you. There's none of this "oh I was just kidding, he's not under arrest."
