I doubt anyone will be able to help, so if this ends up just as a rant to people who would understand my frustration, that's cool.

My partner has a fetish involving using a dildo and some type of vibrator (erocillator, hitachi, bullet, etc) on my clit to "force" repeated orgasms. I'm not complaining about the experience, it's best when i am tied down, love that feeling of a safe struggle. But it seems everytime we do i invariably end up with a wicked UTI within 2-3 days. We've tried different materials, devices, lubes, etc. Cleaning before and after and it is still rare that it doesn;t end up in catastrophe. I never have this problem if i just do clitoral stim with my bullet or hitachi....sigh

Anyone have similar experience or suggestions?  Fyi i am allergic to latex, so we use poly condoms on the dildo.  Thanks!

there is one sexual position that will give me a UTI without fail, so i know where you are coming from. The thing that worked for me...pee!! Drink alot of water right after you are done with each other and hopefully you will flush out the germs that are causing the infection.

Make sure to pee after you are finished, this will help to wash out any bacteria that has travelled the wrong way. As well when you are wiping after be really sure to wipe the correct way from front to back and do not rub.

If you cannot shower even a quick wash with clean water will help. For those who are prone to uti cranberry juice can help but you have to be sure its real cranberry not the pretend full of sugar and grape juice stuff.

If you have chronic infections perhaps your Doc could give you a Rx for the appropriate antibiotic for when it hits. Then you can fill it right away and not have to wait to see the doc.

Good Luck

I have the exact same problem. The only things you can do: take cranberry supplement pills (the juice isn't enough) starting the day BEFORE you play, if you can predict it, and continuing a couple days after.  Drink lots of water, and pee beforehand and a lot afterwards.  I've had luck with this but sometimes even that doesn't work :(  Oh well...try it.

Lots and lots of water, before and after the event.  Pee as soon as you are finished and drink lots of fluid for the days following.  Do not be fooled into thinking that the 24 hours after the event will be sufficiant.

Take cranberry suppliments every day regardless - I agree that the juice isn't enough.  Do not take them just because you might play.  Cranberry is good for the bladder anyway and keeps it healthy and it gets you into a good routine if you take it daily anyway.  If you can afford it, take D-mannose as well as the cranberry.  Both cause bacteria to be unable to stick to the bladder and it has to be flushed out.

just thought i'd mention this...the cranberry juice you buy in the supermarkets contain about 10% actual cranberry juice. Hence the label of "Cranberry Juice Cocktail". It is really pretty useless for bladder issues.
The supplements are the best way to go.

Hereyes I wonder if this is regularly occuring if perhaps yoy haven't got cystitis. You can get that from frequent hard sex and I suspect forced orgasms with a vibrator falls under that. it also has some of the symptoms of a U.T.I. it might be worth looking into.

Hi Starbuck.  Cystitis is a UTI.  There are various types - like pyelonephritis (sp?) etc ...

Oh fair enough I didn't realise that, I thought they were seperate, cheers Darcy I have learned my fact for the day! Am I right in thinking that if you do have cystitis though that it needs to be checked out and treated? I've had a couple of u.t.i.'s before that after a couple of days cleared up by themselves.

People can have the symptoms of a UTI but not have one - painful peeing, strong smelling urine, even blood.  It could even be PID (extreme rough sex or a new partner can be a cause).  If you have the symptoms you can take over the counter treatment but if it doesn't clear in a couple of days, it's always best to visit your GP.  You don't have to take anti biotics - if you flush yourself through if you feel the symptoms, that can assist (that is what my doctor advises me as I am allergic to Penicillin and Trimethoprim gives me hives and Nitrofurantoin makes me really sick if I take more than a couple a day) with paracetamol for the fever.

Having them regularly might mean you have stones and if it is prolonged then definately see the doctor and flushflushflush with water.  It could be sign of an allergy to something also.

The cranberry and D-Mannose are life savers for me.  I found out about D-Mannose via a poster here a while back - it's fairly expensive and usually only available online or at health stores rather than chemists but it works amazingly.  Cranberry suppliments rock it big time too and I take a gradual dose, rather than the one a day suppliment which I wouldn't personally suggest - the ones I take are smaller doses that I can take four of a day - so I take two in the morning and two at night every day.  If you must take a one dose suppliment, take it at night before bed, not morning.  The concentration of urine is higher.

Cystitis is a blanket term for inflammation of the bladder. It is most commonly caused by an infection but can also result from some sort of trauma. Irregardless of the cause, it needs to be treated asap.

A UTI does not go away on its own...and left untreated it can turn into pyelonephritis, which is an infection that has hit the kidneys. You want to avoid this at all cost. It is very painful and is a real sucker to get rid of. And once you have it, you will always be prone to getting it again, just from a simple UTI.

If you thought you had a UTI and it went away without treatment, you might want to talk to your doctor and look for another cause.

Also, if you are taking antibiotics for a UTI/kidney infection, be very careful about taking other meds with them. I found out the hard way that the B vitimans can counteract certain antibiotics. Ask the doctor and then ask the pharmacist, just to be on the safe side.

I used to have this problem after play with lots of stimulation, it would flare up, cause me untold problems, then go better, then flare up  two days after playing again... it was non-stop and put me off for a while.  I went to see a consultant and they performed a cystoscopy and found out that I had a bacteria that was living in my urethra/bladder which would become active with the friction of play then go dormant again which was why it wasn't showing up on a pee test, then as soon as I played again it would reappear.  After the cystoscopy my problem was cured with the correct antibiotics for that bacteria, accompanied with a dilation - it worked wonders and I could play again without worrying about the infection afterwards....so if it continues it might be worth speaking to a doctor.
But as it has already been said - the most important thing is to have a pee straight after and keep flushing your system.

UTIs can indeed be serious.

Yeah, sometimes you just get cloudy or painful pee in the morning or after sex but you can flush it out with lots of water before it becomes a UTI. If it does though...treat it as soon as possible! Frequent/untreated UTIs do go to the kidneys, or in the long-term cause urethral stenosis (narrowing of the passage).

Is it possible that some of the burning during urination might be vaginal? I once went to my family doctor with horrible urinary pain convinced that I had a UTI, only to find out that I had a nasty yeast infection and vaginal contact dermatitis (allergy to new lubricant). The ammonia in the urine, when coming into contact with inflamed vaginal tissue on exit was causing the burning.
I've had numerous UTI's and even I confused the symptoms.
Also, since you mentioned that you use lubricant, is it possible that the bottle could have become contaminated with bacteria? If you're not careful about avoiding touching the applicator itself, then any bacteria on your hands (or whatever other parts) can go right back into the bottle and sit there waiting to re-infect you the next time you use the lube.
Is there any chance you could have a sensitivity to the lube itself? I personally cannot use any lubricants because even the water-based ones contain preservatives that irritate my skin.
All the other advice you've  gotten is good. Water, cranberry juice (100% juice, not cocktail, I like Northland brand), pee before and after etc. Another thing you might want to do is cut back on sugar. If you eat a lot of sugary foods, or drink a lot of alcohol and/or soda, you're pumping a lot more sugar into your system than you need, and excess sugar can feed infection.

Having recently got out of the hospital for pneumonia, it was also found I had a uti, using the advise of the other, I have also started using the wet wipes so I can be assured its clean down there. Instead of wiping with just dry tissue.
I was surprised to learn that I had a uti infection as I really didnt have the classic symptoms of it.
First time in I dont know how mnay years I ended up with one.
So I now take the extra precation of using wet wipes regardless if its pre or post sex.

Cleaning you do.
Peeing before and after has already been said.
If the area is really irritated after play, pour cool water on it every time you go to the bathroom and ice it (The less it hurts to pee, the more you'll go).
I used to get UTI's with major frequency so I understand how uncomfortable they can be.
Oh, and for folks who get them related to sex with a male partner, have him clean himself as well as you cleaning yourself beforehand.

I know that I get irritated down there if we don't bathe me after any sexual activity. I don't know if I'm allergic to cum or what but both my own and my mate's causes problems sometimes if we don't wash me up afterwards.

Since I was a child, I have always been prone to very very nasty UTI's, so by the time I was an adult and became sexually active, my doctors had already explained to me how sexual  activity would increase the liklihood of developing UTI's.

I used to get them very regularly when I had sex. As it was explained to me, the rather vigorous friction to the urethra causes tiny abrasions to the inside of the urethra, which make it easier to get an infection.  Add in that prolonged sexual activity will also slightly dehydrate, it makes it even easier.

Most of the advice given is almost word for word what my doctors have been telling me as long as I can remember.  One warning about 100% cranberry juice....it's bitter, especially if you're used to the cocktail or any of the blends.  Definitely keep yourself well hydrated on a daily basis.  This is the thing that usually ends up being my issue, your body needs a certain amount of water to be able to flush the toxins from your body,  if you're not hydrated enough, they will build up and contribute to the conditions causing the infections.
