Black Knight.

Various Black Knights are found in fiction, but one of the better known (at least to me) is the one guarding the small bridge in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Bellatrix Lestrange from the last 2 or 3 Harry Potters.

Yeah, igor, the Black Knight is a standard villain throughout Arthurian legend.

Just a comment - thinking of fictional characters is NOT as easy as I thought it would be!

P.S. Benton Quest was excellent! I loved that cartoon!

Batwoman, alas, is one word. In fact, I'm amazed at the number of fictional characters, from comics to Shakespeare, who have only one name (or an unspecified first or last name), and thus aren't useful for an AA-ZZ list.

How about Baron Winters?

Baron Winters searches out evil for a fee. He has limited psychic abilities but no specific physical powers.

Winters studied in another realm of reality where he fell in love with another student. Their short - lived relationship produced a son, Gowon, who for many years hated his father's uncaring attitudes. Winters eventually settled down in Washington D.C. where he dabbled in the arcane arts. His mansion is somehow connected to a time stream which allows the Baron or his NIght Force to move from one century to the next with apparent ease. Winters rarely leaves the mansion, and then it is only to visit a time other than our own. He prefers to remain inside with his pet Leopard, Merlin.

And for the BX then--

Brian Xavier, from the X-men comics
