ORIGINAL: DomKen That's it then. Franken is the Senator unless the SCOTUS wants to completely destroy its last shred of credibility. I doubt they'd even hear the case. There's just no compelling, substantive argument for an appeal under federal law. Not to mention that Coleman won't appeal. He doesn't have the money, nor does the GOP. quote:
Our governor, Republican Tim Pawlenty, is on the record as saying that if the Minnesota Supreme Court directs him to sign the election certificate, he will do so, and today's ruling does specifically direct him to do exactly that. Actually they didn't specifically direct him to do so in their ruling, despite Franken's lawyers' request--they only said that Franken is entitled to a certificate (http://www.startribune.com). Still, Pawlenty dooms his Presidential aspirations if he doesn't sign. quote:
As it happens, Pawlenty is not running for re-election next year, because he plans to run for president. This clears the field for Coleman to run for governor, which could very well motivate him to cut his losses, save whatever's left of his public image, and move on to what he hopes are bigger and better things. This should be the end of the matter. Indeed.
