*Yawn*... obviously, it's me that you find interesting. I advise that you quit derailing the thread for the purpose of focusing on MOI and that instead you address me in private if you have any questions to which you think my answers would quench your curiousity.

And yet you're incorrect again. The only thing I find interesting is the projection thing. But whatever.

There has to be more to this story, and I'm completely ok with having no idea what it is.  This torpedoes her as a potential contender in '12, and that's the part I'm most ok with.

Yeah. Despite what her 'cheerleaders' think....this totally trashes any hope of her even getting on the ticket.

Now looking behind the scenes…I’ll bet the real reason she is quitting is a compromise where the allegations against her for impropriety on office will go away if she resigned.

That was my thinking.

I believe she said in the speech, or maybe I heard it on Fox, that all 15 ethics lawsuits were dismissed.

But everything I've read, including the link in the thread on those lawsuits said there 18 total and only 15 had been settled or dismissed.

I would lay odds that someone had something against her and made her a deal. "get your ass outta office and we will keep this quiet"

I just would love to know what that something was.

I didn't get a chance to watch much news after her announcement, but the consensus seemed to be that there is something going on we are not being told and we haven't heard the end of this story.

As one commentator put it, "how long will it take for the other shoe to drop?".

Is that like those air fresheners that just mask the smell?

It's always interesting to read what the soft-headed, dull, bitter liberals on here (such as you, thatdamnedpanda) have to say about a classy lady like Sarah Palin.

Her announcement wasn't rambling at all. She has more class and dignity in her little finger than any Democrat on the national scene.

Democrats in Alaska, what few there are, have been harassing her with one ethics complaint after another, all of which distract from her ability to do her job as governor, and more importantly, waste precious tax dollars and human resources. But then, that is a typical liberal ploy.

You mean like all those liberals in Congress who spent the eight years Clinton was in office hounding him with endless investigations of his past?

Those same liberals who spent $80 million dollars on investigating his sex life alone?

quote:

She is simply unwilling to allow those liberal simpletons to continue to waste her time, money and energy (and that of the state of Alaska) by filing endless moronic ethics complaints (all of which have been tossed out after being reviewed as being groundless).

Well, if liberals are soft-headed and dull that must make you pretty sharp.

And being such a sharp guy you might want to check some of the facts.

There were 14 cases dismissed.  Many were frivolous, but also many of those frivolous cases were filed by one person.

Many others were legitimate ethical questions.  One case was not dismissed but settled when she agreed to reimburse the state for improperly billing it for her childrens' travel expenses.

And finally, there were a total of 18 cases filed, leaving three apparently still pending:

Palin spars with critics over ethics complaints

And we also can't forget the trooper scandal which found Palin in violation of state ethics law:

Ethics report: Palin abused authority

Not to mention her use of $150k of RNC donor money for an extravagant wardrobe, which was actually one of the ethics complaints that was dismissed.

While it was ruled to not have been illegal, it still raises ethical issues.

Based on that, the ethics violation, and her return of the money,  I don't think it's unreasonable for Alaskans to have questioned the ethics of their governor in other matters.

Maybe "15" is as high as she can count.

I'm going with the conspiracy theory here.  No one can possibly be that dumb to think that resigning from office is a good political move.

Did I miss something about her being a lame duck? Did Alaska just elect a new governor?

~Dave

No, that was part of the bizarre sequencing of the resignation speech. She made herself a lame duck by announcing that she was not going to run for a second term, and then declared that as long as she's going to be a lame duck, she might as well resign right now.

You know, believe it or not, there actually is something I kinda like about you. No, really, I'm not kidding - there is! I like that you so often go straight to the personal insults, as you did here, rather than beating around the bush for a few posts before losing control. That makes it easier for me, because once you start with the personal insults, I don't feel any well-bred urge to treat you with civility or compassion. It's wonderfully liberating. Thank you for being you!

.....

Of course, I don't expect liberals to understand that kind of integrity, and that's why you claimed she was "rambling". She was focused, coherent and dignified, and unlike the clown in the white house, she spoke off the cuff, without notes, and no teleprompter.

Now, ordinarily, if you and i were arguing in a bar room, this is where I'd start insulting you, and ridiculing your intelligence and character, as you did to me.

But in this case, I won't. I don't need to. In fact, you could probably make an argument that I can't. Because really, how could I say anything more damning about you, anything more insulting, than you have already said about yourself by calling that batshit loon "focused, coherent, and dignified?" I don't need to say a word.

Except thank you. The gentleman in me can not help but thank you for making it so easy. Was in Napoleon or Sun Tzu who said, "never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake?"

If there's one 'liberal' on these boards who's ready to cross the aisle, it's Panda. In fact, sometimes I think he goes a little too far in his earnestness. So, you really ought to educate yourself before making such an uneducated statement about an individual whom you obviously know nothing about. Or: where ad hominem comes to bite you in the ass.

Say, harddady?  This is what a classy lady sounds like. Of course, you probably have no way of discerning that, because she has this nasty librul habit of using multi-syllabic words, and using them to form complex sentences and complete paragraphs. She doesn't speak in sound bites, and she doesn't just chant your favorite slogans over and over, so all in all, you can probably no more "hear" what she's saying than you can hear one of those whistles that only dogs can detect. She speaks intelligently, in real English, and if your ears are tuned to Sarah Palin's frequency, you can't possibly hear Kittin. Which is a pity, because you might learn something about real class.

Thanks, Kit. You can come shooting pistols and assault rifles with me anytime. [sm=couch.gif]

Not that I disagree with the sentiment, but if you're going to talk trash about someone's intelligence...perhaps you should spell "throw" correctly.

I'm just sayin'...

"a classy lady like Sarah Palin"

sorry, I don't think the DSM IV (used by USA Fed Gov and Law Enforcement) has  - as of yet - conflated "Borderline Personality Character Disorder" (a psychotic disorder and one found in many women in hard lock up for violent crime, btw).

and before anyone's Daddy wants to have a go replying to THAT:

let's make HER take an MMPI test, SAME as people in Law Enforcement, on occasion, have to.

Because if she gets a certain "spike" in her results chart?  The equivalent of 7 out of ten markers for being a Borderline?

she is NOT mentally or psychologically fit to hold ANY office, even that of a town Alderman.

PERIOD.
