.... I try to show some reasonable and fair concern for another person and I get ripped to pieces for it. My each of you all lose contact with some one you even have some slight concern for and not be able to reach them or hear back from them.

As far as I can tell Human concern for others is dead here on this site.

We are heartless becasue we see an online relationship where you don't even have his phone number and think you have gone overboard and you have panicked. Which is more realistic? It isn't heartless to consider an online relationship where someone disappears as something unusual.

Status: offline 		It is not wrong to be concerned about a person missing in action at all, but 48 hours isn't such a long time to be away from web. It is a bit like reporting the police for our lost kid who is 30 minutes late home.

Can't help telling a personal experience of mine: I had got a girlfriend with whom I met and had my all communication online. A distant vanilla relationship. She suddenly disappeared at a period where our relationship was going very alright, she hadn't even replied to my mail in which I had sent her the pictures of roses, with a note below written her name. 2 months later, I sent her another e-mail that I am worried about her health and goodnees, but it got unresponded again. I couldn't remove the image from my mind her being in an intensive care unit in a hospital or in a grave.    Another 2 or 1 month later, a short offline IM: "hey, did you miss me?" She laterly told me she was getting moved from her apartment, it was why she was offline during this period. Hadn't ever told me she would get moved or used another PC to at least send me an e-mail.

Wrong answer.

What you're doing here is the message board equivalent of stalking.  This person didn't show up to chat, so you're trying to track him down.  That's a hell of a lot different than, oh, shall we say, the folks on these forums who have D types or s types that are serving overseas who don't always have the ability to remain in contact. 

If you really want to compare someone who probably flaked to those circumstances, contact Me on the other side.  We can 'chat' and I'll give you the unedited version.  Small hint.  You may not like what you hear.

Status: offline 		I hate to admit it, but I've blown someone off with le ignore and le block before. To be honest, sometimes you end up being nice to someone who, in turn, suffocates you.

In my example, some decent woman and I were talking. Everything was meh, but then she started talking about her position in life; thirty something with no career path. Well that is fine, but the second I mentioned that I own a house, she instantly wanted me to be exclusively hers. She also started pressing how she wanted to come visit and move in, told a bunch of sob stories about how her roommate was a prick (do you call it a roommate when you have no job and are being supported?), and just generally dialed up the heat based on what I HAVE MADE FOR MYSELF.

Well, maybe she just needed a second chance with life and the right person. However, after a month of talking almost daily, I realized a smart question to her insisting on moving in, "What's my name?"

Exactly. I'm sorry, but people aren't always interested in the right things online. It doesn't spoil the entire orchard though, so I suggest you brush it off. If bad experiences are going to deter you so easily -- causing you to point guns at everyone around you -- then you've probably missed out on a lot.

Then drop it.  You've done all that you can.

If you want to wait a couple of days for him to respond, feel free.  Then go on living life if you don't hear from him.

One can start being concerned when one has had a long relationship and knows the other person very well.

hey calm down - you're the one who's asking us (a crowd of strangers) if we have seen and/or heard from him (as if i truly know and regularly converse with this guy). it's only (and i do stress only) been 2 days since your last chat with this particular person. shouldn't you ease up on the obsession a bit? you're almost borderline stalking this guy. back off - give him some breathing room.

it's not dead however i wouldn't stalk ...let alone start a thread wondering where in the world my pet after not hearing from him in 2day or sometimes 5 days. yes i do get concerned but i also know how busy as well as stressful his job gets on a daily basis. so i patiently wait for when he has a free moment to call.

you basically need to channel your energies elsewhere if you're going to worry like this

Hands up all those Dom's, Mistresses etc who have had contact with subs on collarme and when it gets down to exchanging phone numbers, email details etc the sub suddenly disappears.

There are a whole lot of people on CM that get their kicks from cyber submission and go poof when things get to real.

Status: offline 		I'm a Dominant, not Mother Theresa, I don't get My panties in a wad when someone online disppears--I can't--life and shit happen--I DO however, when in a relationship where there are phone conversations, meetings etc, ask that there be an envelope given to a trusted family member with MY contact information, that should something happen, they need to open the envelope-by then I have the right to contact if need be as well--but that is in very rare circumstances and only after there is a chance of something more than casual.
 
I am sure what you thought this was a noble gesture that demonstrated your commitment, however, life and shit happen.
