My middle kitty (age 12) gave me a good scare early this morning: she knocked over a container that had a furnace part that was soaking in #2 home heating oil.
Essentially she took a bath in diesel fuel.
6 baths with Dawn first (that stuff is extremely difficult to remove) and a consult with the National Animal Poison Control Center... and they think she is likely to be fine.
No sign of an upset tummy.

The consult fee was less expensive than a trip to the vet's who would have called the same number and then tacked on the $65. charge.

Poor kitty and mummy.

The house still smells all fume-y.

That sounds so scary!!! I'm glad that kitteh is going to be ok. I'm sure she hated her baths. [8D]

I filled the cat food dispenser today & there was just a little bit more food in the bag than would fit in it, so i poured the rest into the dish & they completely gorged themselves. They think they've died & gone to heaven I'm sure!!

Spicy got a bath [8|]

He climbed up the tree and passed the area which my dad had protected with a plastic tube (he did put a tube around part of the tree to prevent his cats climbing up the tree to the birds nests). However, spicy wasn't impressed from that obstacle and just jumped from one tree arm to another and so passed it...my dad has seen this got himself some water ready and gave spicy a big and fat shower [&:] Wow, was he down that tree fast [:D]

Gizmo is sulking off in a corner somewhere I would imagine, as I chased him away from beating up his sister Tabitha. The little rat bastard has gotten sick of being cooped up indoors, but there's no way we're letting him roam about freely when he hasn't got a yard of his own to patrol.

You should see Squeaks....I keep my dry food in containers, and she'll go to them and scratch at them until I give her a few pieces.  If any of the boys happen to see this, I swear, she gets this smug little look on her face that just screams "I got TWEEEEETS and you don't !"....and all it is is the regular dry food already out in the feeders.

Now, they know they've gotten away with something when Squeaks tears into a bag of tweets and she ends up dumping them everywhere.......usually all that's left is the bag and a few crumbs.

Neither of mine are doing this... but it's amusing nevertheless.

BG you're not vanilla anymore *hahaha*

I love this cartoon.... Saved it in my YT account, so I can watch it again.

Panthera is sleeping on my pillow.... She didnot like me re-arranging the living. [&:]

Haven't been vanilla for a looong time. But thanks for noticing. [;)]

The Simon's Cat thing is... well, not exactly a series. But more like... mini episodes. If you've only saved the one video be sure to check out the rest of them. The creator *definitely* has had a cat or two in his life. He's got a lot of their habits and quirks down.

Charnegui -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/14/2011 2:04:41 AM)

*saw BG complaining somewhere about her vanillastatus*
But you're right, I'd got rid of it also.... so I knew directly what you ment.

The picture I posted of Panthera and her stuffed: just found it back on the balcony.... she's really dragging that thing all through the house...[:)]

Pepper rescued me last night from an annoying bug [>:] This bug kept pestering me for ages, then at some point I let pepper in, she was leaning on my chest and that bug made the mistake of its life and decided to pester me again...well...pepper only needed one attempt, catched her and had her as dinner [:)]

I enjoyed to praise her for getting rid off that annoyance [:D]

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/14/2011 8:35:49 AM)

I had a Norwegian Forest Cat named Vincent Van Cat. He was the sweetest, most lovable cat on the face of the earth, but he really was dumb as a post. My daughter came to live with me & she had to sleep on a mattress on the floor in a corner of the living room of my tiny apt in SF. Vinnie loved to stay outside all night & every morning, I would get up & open the door & he'd come running in, catch sight of her & stop dead in his tracks scared half to death!! "OMG!!! What is that????" Every single morning for weeks.

One day while he was outside playing, I rearranged the living room furniture & he came running in & went to jump on the couch which was no longer where it was when he went outside that morning. I thought the poor thing was going to need anti-anxiety meds!!!

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/14/2011 11:49:46 AM)

Linnea....you just made me snort.......how funny!  But you're a bad kitteh momma for moving the furniture!  If I move anything around, even a foot, they ALL have to be right there, directing and getting in the way.  Just this morning, I was putting hte futon cover on, and Boo hopped up to see what was happening......he wouldn't move, so I zipped his furry little ass up....boy, was he PISSED when I let him out!  No to mention all staticy...his hair was standing straight up.  (OK, so I'm not exactly the purrrrfect little kitteh momma either.....sue me!)

Sissy lost a baby, I found his little body outside.  It was the black one, no apparent signs of injury, and he was alive at least two nights ago, and it rained yesterday, and he shows signs of being out in it, so it was something fast.  I'm going to do my best to get the remaining two caught this weekend, bathed and at least I'll keep them here and get them socialised to find homes for them.....if not, what the hell, 4, 6 who's counting anymore?  I can keep them in the back bedroom away from my guys til they get bigger and can handle themselves.  I think my neighbor downstairs will take one for sure, maybe both if I can convince her not to break up the set.

Awwwe.   My cat gets a profound relaxed feeling.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (6/15/2011 10:21:59 AM)

When I woke up this morning & tried to put my slippers on, I discovered that one of them had oddly crawled under the bed. Again. One of the slippers, to clarify. And because I use the crystal kind of cat litter & they spread it around in the night, every night, I was pretty well trapped. Tis a conspiracy, I tell you!!
