I so wish that I could afford more cats, but I can't really afford the 2 I have. I'd love to have a little kitten again. But these are the ones who chose me, so I couldn't argue with them. When you are chosen, argument is futile. When Mr. Cat decided to move in with me, we argued for 3 weeks. Finally, I closed all the doors & windows in my house & proceeded to wait him out. It started raining & he just laid down on the bow of the boat in the back yard & didn't move for 3 days til I finally gave in. And he ended up being the best friend I ever had in my whole life. People who hated cats would come in the house, go directly to him & pet him & say that he was different. And he was. I was so blessed to have him in my life. If I could write, I'd write a book about him, because I have 14 years' worth of stories about him.

My Squeek was my best friend too, he was the first cat that was really mine, in that we were connected to each other. I cried every single day for a month after he died. Yes, I could write tons about him too. TC was a great cat too but totally different personality. TC helped me thru Squeeks death. I miss them both.
I love cats, I love their personalities. I would love to have cats again, but I cant do that until I have a home where I will stay for a while... So, for now, I must live vicariously thru others..

When I was in 4th grade, my Father allowed me to get a kitten. I named her Mitzie & I've always said that she was my real mother because she actually cared about me. I had her until I went off to college & my sister moved to CA & they had to find a home for her. If I cried, she would come running to see what was wrong & if she could make me feel better. When I had cramps from my period, she'd lie on my lower abdomen & purr & look worried at me. It was like having a sort of vibrating hot pad, which always made the cramps better.

She & Mr. Cat were the cats I've been closest to in my life even though I've had multitudes. But most of them were "just cats". Lovable & sweet but really just cats, not best friends or mommies.

Well, today was the first day of Angel's new training regimine and it did not go well. I am teaching her to stay inside from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M., the hours Ms. Overzealous Busybody is on duty and likely to be walking or driving the property and could spot Angel and report her to Animal Control. I know she comes around because she already left a snarky note threatening to tow one of my vehicles.

Angel begged continuously from 9 A.M. to noon and I just had to keep ignoring her. Finally, she sat in a chair, looking very depressed and dejected. I went over to pet her and reassure her that she wasn't a bad kitty and I wasn't mad at her. She just doesn't understand.

Finally, she went out after 3 P.M. but only stayed out for a short time and came back in because we were in triple digits by then. I'm going to try to get her to go out tonight and get pooped out so she'll sleep during the day tomorrow.

\they ALWAYS look cute in pics....

twistedwillow -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/5/2011 5:37:40 PM)

Slightly off topic, but Greedy, if you want pics resized you can always email them to me and i will do it for you, no worries.

Back on topic ... my Madge has discovered he can climb up onto the head of my bed, which is wooden and about an inch wide, and walk back and forth from post to post, he is very proud of himself, however my lovely brand new bed now has cat scratches up the middle post where he climbs up. ( I will just tell people it's my 'notches in the bed post' ) But i do find it rather worrying as he is rather crosseyed, and falls more often than not, and scrabbling falling cat on my head is NOT how i enjoy being woken up at 2am ( or any other time )
My beautiful Dud is, as usual, not far away, currently curled in my arms between me and the laptop ( i'm laying on the floor )

I so dislike cats, but i can't imagine my life with out my 'Monstars'

Yeah, that is the way I felt about Squeek too, we were very close. I got him as a teeny tiny orphan, he was so small he fit in my hand & he had the funniest squeek. But he was so smart. He used to follow me into the bathroom and once i sat down on the toilet then he knew I was a captive and couldnt move, so he would sit there and stare at me. If I didnt pat him right away he would bite my kneecap! Then stare at me again. If I still didnt pat him, he would bite me again! He was so funny.. but very serious cuz he wanted his pats!

Yes, I can see having a warm purring kitty on your tummy would make your cramps better, both the warmth and knowing you were dearly loved. [:)]

Pagla, crouching in his temporary lair, atavistic racial memories of his predator ancestors singing through his mind, ready to hunt down those hapless humans that infest his territory, and force them to pet him.

Oh YES! paper bags! [sm=lol.gif] My kitties loved them so much too...
they acted like they were invisible when they were hiding in them...
when they were in those paper bags I called them "cave kittens".... so ferocious!!! like little tigers
they loved when unwary paper balls were rolled into their paper caves too.. [:D]

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/6/2011 3:38:18 PM)

Angel and I had a MUCH better day today. I let her outside last night, long after Ms. Overzealous Busybody was off duty. She tired out and came in and has been sleeping since 8:00 A.M. this morning. She didn't even come into my office once today to ask to be let out. This may be the way to go until that busybody quits, hopefully soon like the last half dozen before her (though they were not nearly as annoying).

KiGirl -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/6/2011 7:17:44 PM)

Mine is emitting some cute, wheezing kitty snores into the crocheted blanket slung over my futon. She does this for about 15 hours a day; it's a very rigorous routine.

Kaliko -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/6/2011 7:43:55 PM)

My little cat just stared at a giant ant crawl across the floor. Followed it the whole way....didn't do a damn thing about it.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What is your cat doing? (7/6/2011 8:38:50 PM)

Pookie spends most of the day lying on the comforter on top of a box on the chair next to my desk chair. Every now & then I'll hear this odd sound & realize it's him, purring. It's like he dreams something really good & just spontaneously starts purring!
