MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/24/2011 11:31:57 AM)

I brought home a chicken sandwich for lunch, fully wrapped in foil and in a paper bag. I left it on the counter for just a few minutes while I put away the items I bought while shopping. Misty had jumped up on the counter, gotten the sandwich out of the paper bag, and had just started unwrapping the foil when I caught her in action and reclaimed my sandwich.

Mine here don't bother the blinds much, but occasionally, someone will get stuck in them.......grumblemumbleKB grumbleSqueaksmumble.....as in the front half on one side, the ass end on the other, and they sort of just hang there.  Considering they are just the cheap plastic blinds, I'm surprised they haven't brought them down on themselves.  KB learned the hard way tho about blinds.....I had them up and he was playing with the string, and when I told him to stop, he just gave me the standard "Who, MOI?" look....about 30 seconds later, he tripped the release mechanism, and they came down on him.  I haven't laughed like that in ages!   It had all the classic kitteh moments....embarassment, falling down boom, and I got to say "I told ya so!"  So he doesn't play with anything dangly near them anymore.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/24/2011 11:38:57 AM)

That is just too funny s2s. Part of me wishes that Maggie had had a traumatic experience with my blinds early in life; maybe my blinds would still be functional.

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/24/2011 11:54:35 AM)

I thnk KB was more pissed that I had the audacity to *gasp* LAUGH at him.  And for the record, it didn't stop him from getting up there and getting all in the blinds at all.  He still insists on playing with the string too.....head like a brick, that one!

Mystic, they are faaaaast little buggers, aren't they?  Mine will come from everywhere to check out the grocery bags, and if they find anything they want, it's grabbed and ZOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!  off they go to their hidey hole with it.  Squeaks will take the cat treats, KB scarfs the catnip.  Smooch will sit on the packages of lunchmeat, proclaiming them as his.  Boo is just nosy, so he's a good boy.

LundDoms4aslave -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/24/2011 12:03:47 PM)

LOL s2s and Mystic. they are handfuls arnt they. well ours, Mystic and the dogs, follow us from door to kitchen then depending on what type of container we brought food home in they start nosing and seeing what they might get small scrap treats of as daddy and i cook for the next week or so. the food bank weeks are even worse cuz sasha will just stand there and look over the edge of the tub while mystic and blondie stand on hind legs and look to see what goodies we got.

now mystic has pretty much officially accepted that they puppy is staying. she still gets pissed because when in the living room or kitchen blondie will like pounce her with a front paw on either side and just hold her down like that till mystic runs off to escape and hide.

right now mystic is sitting in the window by my study chair on top of the window ac unit watching out the window while blondie is working on napping at my feet on the other side of the chair LOL.

Oh, yes, they are very fast. I suppose I'm lucky Misty didn't just grab the sandwich and hide it from me. She is very fast to get into the lunch meat, too. Recently I put the bags down when I came in the house only to go to the bathroom quickly, and in that short amount of time Misty had zeroed in on exactly which bag had the deli turkey, pulled the package of turkey out of the grocery bag, and was gnawing a hole in the corner.

Several years ago, I was making baked fish for dinner and had placed four 4-ounce fillets on a baking sheet. The phone rang and I answered it and forgot all about the fish. When I walked back into the kitchen, the baking sheet was completely empty. I was sure I had put the fish on the baking sheet, and the wrapper was in the trash. The 13 lb. male cat I had at the time, Pinkerton, had polished off all 4 fish fillets in a half hour while I was talking on the phone!

I guess I'm lucky in that respect. Maggie has little interest in people food apart from cooked rice right out of the fridge. There's something about the crunchiness of the rice she loves.

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/24/2011 12:48:43 PM)

Thank goodness I can put up with Binx off and on.  I caught her on the stove one day, looking for some nip (I hide it HIGH in the cabinets).

Fitzy says; "I had an exhausting day. The couch had been vacummed, so I had to re-fur the whole thing."

LundDoms4aslave -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/24/2011 6:22:47 PM)

LOL blushes sounds about like what mystic is going to do when i vaccum her litter box corner of our bedroom carpet from where she has the litter that she either a) kicks over the edge of the box some how or b) falls off of her paws each time she gets out of the box. LOL

well mystic is now hiding and resting some where while blondie is under my feet resting from having a long day of cat and puppy tag chase through the house most of the day. yes the kitteh is finally gotten to the point that she still growls and smacks w/ no claws the puppy but she is playing tag chase with her now. its one of Mystics favorite games now if i just had kitteh and puppy num nums to give them LOL.

One day, I went shopping, came home & put the bags down on the floor for a bit while I sat. I was sure I hadn't bought anything they would want & they're pretty slow movers anyway. I'm talking on the phone & I was hearing grocery bags rustling. I looked around & Booga was rubbing on one of the bags. I hollered at him & went back to my conversation. Pretty soon he went back to the bag & was rolling on it again. Same bag. So I got off the phone & went to look in the bag to see what was so attractive to him & I found the fresh cilantro. Who knew that cats would like cilantro! I knew about kiwi plants, but not cilantro. LOL

Wow, I didn't know cilantro could interest a cat. Mine apparently don't like it because I've bought it on numerous occasions and they've never expressed an interest.

I did have a Siamese cat several years ago who liked mint. My dental hygenist also said one of her cats likes mint and will go into her purse and steal mints or mint-flavored gum.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/25/2011 9:50:28 AM)

Angel is in one of her chasing moods today and chased poor Misty up on top of the kitty condo, where Misty hissed up a storm. I walked into the room to see what all the fuss was about. At first, Angel was looking up at Misty like she was going to jump up onto the condo and continue chasing her. But, the minute she saw me, she acted all innocent, and pretended that she was just looking out the window. What a little con artist!

LundDoms4aslave -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/25/2011 10:05:46 AM)

Fitzy says: "Oh, sorry. I had no idea that stepping on your face would wake you. But now that you're up, could you feed me?"

p.s. He's stealing all these from Catfoodbreath on twitter. (he always likes to give credit where credit is due, but he intends to keep stealing them...)

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/25/2011 3:32:24 PM)

Maggie is resting up in preparation for a full evening of ambushing.

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/25/2011 7:07:03 PM)

The whole gang went outside earlier.....no leashes, just down the stairs.  Mooch and KB spoke to the kittens, and continued to graze.  Boo actually came down, too, and checked out the bushes.  Squeaks went as far as the first landing on the stairs and said "screw this!" and went back inside.  Not a big fan of the great outdoors apparently.  Could be becuase she was found as a stray in a dumpster....poor little thing.

Anyway, here's one of the beebees.  He has a twin brother who didn't come out....

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (9/25/2011 7:08:06 PM)

And here's his other brother...prolly the one I'll end up with if no one else takes him.

[image]local://upfiles/534135/CB6681A0B79F4EEDBB5A0CEDEF462695.jpg[/image]

I'm still trying to figure out how old they are.  This little guy will eat the mooshy food I put down for Mama, the other two are still nursing.  And their eyes are still blue.  Dad's eyes are a bright green, Mama more of a dull green.  He's the brave one....he'll come out of the bushes when I talk to him, and he was outside earlier all by himself.  The others still hang back.

They do have teeth tho....sharp little pinpoint teeth......this little guy was gnawing on my fingers.  And he's all soft and fluffeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!  I love 'em all, but 8 cats is two shy of crazy cat lady status....and I'm not quite there yet.

And just to prove I'm not the only sucker in the family, my neice and her boyfriend have been bamboozled ino opening their door to a little kitteh.  Apparently, she was left abandonded by the mom of the litter, and my neice's boyfriend kept seeing it in their flowerbed, and he couldn't take it anymore.  Apparently, she's quite the little friendly one.  She tiger striped patches on white fur, with a little black nose and pink toes.  I saw pics on FB, and she's just adorable!
