well heres something for you all to get a kick out of. 3 of the 4 babies of the household all having a goal in mind and being blocked from it.

Beside midnight if you cant see it very well because of the sun is Blondie's naw naw, blondie wants it and midnight is trying to play with it/watch what mommy was doing with her computer. Mystic on the other hand was looking for an opening to get away from both midnight and blondie and escape the room LOL. after i took this pic it took about 5 mins and all 3 left the room and blondie had victoriously taken her naw naw back.

Looks to me like Blondie and Mystic had Midnight cornered lol. Had it not been for your post I would have felt really sorry for him.

Mike, anyone who has ever put down an animal they loved has had second thoughts and misgivings. It is a wrenching decision. t
The truth is there is always something more that could be done. Unfortunately, those things are always expensive, and rarely allow the dog to have any quAlity of life. Sometimes letting go is the loving thing to do. Maybe you got a replacement too soon, but I can tell he is a lucky dog to get you

JstAnotherSub -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/22/2011 6:04:23 PM)

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Great...turns out the Little Bit has pinkeye.....of all things!  So, I looked around, sites recommend boric acid eye stuff for people, and on Monday, I'm going to call our local shelter place and see if they will help me out.  If I tell them he's feral, they may just give me what I need for free...I'm so broke right now that it hurts.  He doesn't appear to be in pain, and the vet sites indicated it might itch a bit, but he's not uncomfortable.  It just looks gross...the inside of his eye is slightly swollen so that's what you see.  It's also draining, which I'm not sure is a good thing or bad.  Hopefully, I've caught it early enough that the boric acid solution will stop it.  It's going to be hard enough to try to get drops in his eyes, let alone use antibiotic creams.  Fortunately, since none of the big'uns will really have alot of contact, they won't get it, but I'll keep an eye on them.

This place is like the Valley of the Dead Kittehs....everyone's sleeping.  They seem to sleep better too with the fresh air in the house.  of course, KB and Squeaks didn't waste anytime hopping onto the warm clean clothes I'd taken from the dryer and was in the process of putting away.  {sigh}  Good thing no outfit of mine is complete until it's been accessorized with the perfect coordinating kitteh hair!  [:D]

xxblushesxx -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/22/2011 8:49:06 PM)

How do you know it's pinkeye?

xxblushesxx -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/22/2011 8:58:55 PM)

Actually, it doesn't matter. Please keep your kitty isolated from your other cats. He could have herpes of the eye. (which also causes pink eye and weeping of the eye)

I've been in a shelter where almost all the cats had it because it's incredibly easy to spread. It was one of the saddest things I ever saw.

Here is some info for you:

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/22/2011 9:26:54 PM)

I checked several vet sites online, and found some pics.  So far, the only symptom he's showing is the eye draining, pink, and an occasional sneeze.  This popped up just a couple of days ago, my first thought was he'd gotten scratched by one of the big 'uns while trying to play.  All the sites I checked indicated a boric acid eye wash would bring relief, and clear it up if it hadn't gotten to the crusty pusy stage.  I'm calling the vet clinic on Monday, right now, cash flow is a serious problem, but they help out with ferals.

Actually, the first link you have I found too.  It was one of the first ones, and steered me to even more info.  I'll have him tested for the FLV thing.  One common thread was that the condition can be caused to flare up when the cat is stressed.  It's only been a couple of weeks since I took him from Mama, and I feed her outside my door, so I'm sure he can smell her.  That whole process has to be hard on him, escpecially since my other 4 wouldn't have anything to do with him when I first brought him in...he was lonely.  I was hoping to get him with his brothers, but someone else got to the other 2 first.  The big 'uns still won't have much contact with him, they barely tolerate him laying next to them.

I"m getting him checked tho.....for everyone's well being.

xxblushesxx -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/22/2011 9:35:31 PM)

This sucks.

I would highly recommend keeping him in his own room with his own litterbox and NO contact with other kittys whatsoever until you know for sure. Conjunctivitis is easy to pass around as well, and I know you can't afford a bunch of sick kittys. I REALLY hope he only has pink eye. We went to a shelter several years back to look at a beautiful cat they had advertised. She was beautiful, but she had herpes of the eye, as did most of the cats there. They were all sick and it was just...heart breaking. They had to be turned in because they didn't do anything about it and kept adopting out these sick creatures. [:o][&o]

xxblushesxx -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/22/2011 9:58:33 PM)

Soul, I hope my posts didn't come across as mean, I didn't mean them that way. Sometimes it's hard to convey tone in what one writes. When I said this sucks, I meant, well, that it does suck. I wish there was a way to get vet help without costing you money you don't have, and that I so hope your other kittys don't get it too, because that would mean more expense and worry. It sucks that when you try to do something good, sometimes bad things come along to bite you in the butt.

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/23/2011 12:09:41 AM)

no, blushes, I understand your meaning completely.  I only hope that I realized what it is quick enough to prevent the others from getting it.    This is day 4 after I first noticed the eye.  I don't know what the incubation period is for any of the diseases are, so I'll keep an eye on all of them, and start with the recommended boric acid first.  The (hopefully) good news is that he isn't exhibiting any of the symptoms of the FLV virus....his appetite is fine, he runs around playing like a little dervish, and the only discharge right now is from his eye, nothing from his nose, or any drooling.

The cat clinic works on a sliding fee scale, and like I said, if I explain that he's a feral, they will usually treat them for little or no cost.  I already use their pet food bank when things are tight, so I know I fit the income guidelines.  The place is a godsend to lower income people and seniors with pets, who'd otherwise abandon them because it costs so much to get them healthy and keep them there.  Trust me, I'll go hungry before neglecting my beebees!

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/23/2011 9:47:32 AM)

Misty is meandering around the house in a bored fashion. I think she's miffed that Angel is occupying "her" bed. Angel is on the bed, grooming herself as usual.

EmeraldsPheonix -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/23/2011 10:11:30 AM)

well mystic is in the window up on top of the opening part of the window watching her outdoor tv. Midnight is back to digging in the community food bowl (ie food bowl for all 4 legged kids). sasha is laying in the bedroom closet. blondie is just that being blondie. she is wandering around pestering all of the other 3 and hiding under the couch and such.

so thats whats happening in my world other than the list that i wrote in the i admit... thread.

whats happening in everyone elses world?

GreedyTop -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/23/2011 10:30:34 AM)

earlier.. I used the (electric) stove to sizzle up a minute steak for myself..

shortly after, I noticed that Cashie decided to do a Countertopstroll.. and was JUST.ABOUT.TO.STEP.ON.THE.STILL.HOT.ELEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

happily, I made sure that didnt happen.. but FUCK ME RUNNING!! that little beastie scared me half to death!!

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/23/2011 3:08:06 PM)

Greedy, I live in fear that my nimnuts might do the same thing...when I'm done cooking, I take the pan I used and fill it with cold water and put it back on the burner.  That keeps them from getting curious.  Fortunately, they have all checked it out once in their lifetimes, so they know it's HOT, but I had a ceramic cooktop in the other apartment here, and theat's when I started using the pan trick.  The one I have now has the coils, and they don't walk on those.

When I got Annie from my sister's best friend, she had burns on the bottom of her front pads where she had walked on a stove.  They were almost healed, but I can't imagine how much pain she was in when it happened....and she got dumped, too.  She had the scars for her whole life.

slvemike4u -> RE: What is your cat doing? (10/23/2011 5:16:54 PM)

Folks I can not adequately express how much your responses to my soul searching has meant to me.There has been a tear or two elicited simply from reading a few of these...but they are good tears. As I'm sure you all can imagine I have still been turning this thing over in my head ....and something occurred to me yesterday( more precisely very early yesterday morning as I tossed and turned trying to get some sleep) while I was questioning the "prodding" this sweet young vet gave me I had somehow forgot one of the most salient points she had available to evaluate my snuggles condition....I had to carry this dog in,she and a nurse needed to carry my puppy to an examination room. This was what she was looking at when she told me the likelihood of snuggles surviving the necessary operation was not at all good.
Midnight is adjusting well to the new home, and I am adjusting quite nicely to her.....Bootsie(the cat) might need a little more time, though there does seem to be an uneasy co existence shaping up
