Angel's new orange and white friend is in our yard every day now. Angel asked to go outside, noticed the other cat, and glared in its direction. However, she seems to like this cat more than the bothersome boyfriend, since she will still go outside when it's in the yard. If the bothersome boyfriend's out there, she turns around and runs back inside.

I received my new ruby quartz pendant in the mail, opened the box, and set it on the table. One of them pried the box open, pulled the pendant out of the box, and knocked it on the floor. I just noticed it on the dining room floor. Cats!

Urmel isn't impressed about the fact that curry and spicy moved back to us yesterday and keeps hissing at them like a huge lyon...well...be careful...little boy...they can respond accordingly, if they wish to do so...one day

Mum's cats are thrilled that those uninvited guests are finally gone and they have their house for themselves again

Pepper, Spicy and Curry seem to share the same passion for my new sofa and won't leave me...to use it alone

Misty finally stood up for herself today and Angel backed off. She was sitting on the window ledge looking out and Angel came up to mess with her. She snarled at her and Angel actually backed off for a change.

I thought it was safe because it was inside a box and you couldn't tell from the outside that there was a shiny inside. However, putting a box that can be opened in the vicinity of a cat is just as bad.

I believe Quigley is still, down in the vicinity of the old cow shed where he was born, pouting. Last night I wrestled him and shoved a couple of tape worm tablets down his throat. He was thoroughly pissed. Didn't even finish his dinner. Just went back upstairs and ran out the door the next time it was opened.

I would venture to say he will be hanging out under the porch, whining about how abused he is, ready to dash back inside, when I get home. Nala and Sophie will be certain to give him a good wrestling to remind him of his status in the house, as soon as they see him.

Yes, they are. I think one of them was up on the table nosing around, saw the little box, and opened it. Once she saw the pendant, I'm sure she just had to knock it on the floor and bat it around. 2 bored kittehs home alone all day = plenty of mischief.

Spicy and Urmel explore the outside grounds by now....and actually, Urmel is quite forceful about it as he keeps scratching on my flat entrance door to demonstrate "let me out" and once outside (we live on the 3rd floor) he hisses at me when I get to close to him, as if he is saying "back off, I have no interest in you catching me to drag me back upstairs, its nice and sunny and I will stay outside...get it!!!"

Yesterday, when he explored the outside unintentionally (from my side!) for too long, he was smart enough to get into corners where he was sure I could not follow him....little bastard...

Today, after his trip outside, I left the house door open (its ok for the other tenants as I know by now) and once he was ready to come back I could hear him miaowing when he walked upstairs and let that bugger back inside

They're busy giving me a sniff-over, as they suspect I cheated on them with another cat. Actually, I didn't. I was over at the home of someone who owns a cat this afternoon. However, her cat was very shy and hid under the bed during my visit. I'm sure I picked up some of her cat's scents just from being in the home, which my cats are now detecting.

My new kitten's asleep on my chest. He's in that "run crazy for 40 minutes and crash for 2 hours" mode.

He's also chewed on my Kindle cable. Do you guys have suggestions for keeping him away from cables? I'm most worried about all the home theater/TV/DVD stuff, especially the power cables.

BTW, his name is Sweet Boy (after a cat in Thieves World).

One thing that has worked for me in discouraging undesired behavior is to make a loud noise when the cat engages in the behavior. I took an empty soda can, filled it 1/4 to 1/3 full of coins, then taped it shut. When the cat began to engage in the undesired behavior (i.e. chewing a cable), I would throw the can in the cat's direction (of course making sure to miss the cat and any object that might be damaged). Or you can shake the can vigorously. The cat then associates the behavior with a loud, frightening sound and hopefully stops doing it.

I also found an article by the ASPCA about taste deterrents: http://www.aspcabehavior.org/articles/91/Using-Taste-Deterrents-.aspx
The part that applies to cats is toward the bottom of the page. Maybe you could apply a light coating of a taste deterrent to the surface of the cables?

unfortunately for our three taste deterrents wont work but throwing or threatening to throw a rolled up newspaper works very well :D

Mine is currently stealing my place on the couch! As soon as i get up ... plop he is there, curled up in a ball cat napping!

If I try to lay down ... he whins and fights for the spot. If I do lay down he is right on top of me ...

What is it about this cat and my couch! ROFL
