Okay, your cats are adorable, and your gas range is nice. But I love the tile backdrop.

Why? Because it's there, and she's a cat. 'Nuff said? They own it all, don't they?!

Oh yep, they do [8|]

This morning summer woke me up with a rather unusual miaowing....I thought "balcony door is open....so she can go to the litter box....she has food....she has water.....darn cat, what's the matter, you got everything of the basics..." and then she came....and happily placed her prey in front of my bed.....which was a tissue in which I stored some of my pepper seeds [8|]

Damn how lucky I am to have such an incredible good hunter [:D]

Lynnxz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/13/2013 5:28:03 PM)

I wonder if she does this all day, or only when I'm studying at the table.

She's figured out how to scale the fridge, and has decided she likes the cabinets.

soul2share -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/13/2013 8:00:54 PM)

Oh yeah, the cabinet tops are a favorite hiding place for my crew too. I have lost count of the number of times that I have gone absolutely nuts trying to locate a "missing" cat, and after checking every hidey hole I can think of, I will sense something up high, and lo and behold, there is the brat looking at me, usually out of just one eye. Like it'd KILL them to answer me?????? I swear, I hear them snickering as I walk away....."got her again! It's too easy!"

Seeing this it actually starts to amaze me right now, that despite that my cats love to sit on each cupboard I am having (I have many cupboards and summer lives about 75% of her life up there, which made me understand more now what catwalk is named a catwalk...) up there they have never been yet....now....in my kitchen it would be pretty tricky, to get up there, to be fair, but also.....I so dont need them up there [:D]

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/16/2013 4:01:11 PM)

My kitties are jealous because there is no space above my kitchen cabinets. They go directly to the ceiling. They do enjoy getting up on top of the refrigerator every now and then. I also have a high entertainment center, but only Misty can get up there because it involves a walk across a narrow mantle, and only Misty is thin enough to fit. She enjoys getting up there to get away from Angel when she has been harassing her too much.

Thaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/17/2013 12:45:30 AM)

I made Valarian root tea last night. Turned my back to find little miss Sirrah with her head int he mug glugging it down. She's been stoned ever since..... <sigh> I have a junkie cat.

All three camped outside the cupboard with it in like it was a juicy mouse. They've now decamped to help Wench practise her piano by jumping on the keyboard and knocking over the music. I can hear the cursing from downstairs....

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/17/2013 12:53:09 AM)

I'm impressed with anyone who can drink valarian root tea. The stuff smells like old sweaty socks.

I have the capsules. My two bad lads have gotten a glass canister with a rubber stopper open so they could play cat hockey with the valarian capsules. It's way better than catnip to them.

Thaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/17/2013 1:28:50 AM)

I quite like the taste, with a little honey perhaps.

But yeah. The resident little monsters are really going for it.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/17/2013 9:34:09 PM)

Misty was overseeing me pay bills this evening to make sure I did everything right. She got right in the middle of the stacks of unpaid, paid, to be mailed, to be discarded, etc., so I had to reach around her at every turn. At least she didn't knock anything down.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/23/2013 10:49:09 AM)

The scent of the cheesburger I brought in the house awakened them from their sound nap and they are here now, begging for tidbits.

jlf1961 -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/23/2013 10:53:25 AM)

I dont have house cats, since they are not native to this planet.

However, if I could figure out a way to socialize a cougar to accept human interaction without attacking, I might consider that species as a house cat.

ResidentSadist -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/23/2013 7:13:59 PM)

I took a nap and slept through feeding time. When I woke up, I went to take a pee and the two cats and the dog followed me in to the bathroom. After a nice wizz, I had a seat and one cat was rubbing the back of my legs, the other cat put his paw on top of my foot with a "we need to have a talk" look on his face while the dog puts its head on my knee. The dog had her best version of the sad-face-lost-hungry-puppy look on and was begging with her eyes.

So I fed them. Did one of them thank me afterwards? Did anyone come and cuddle with me on the couch to say "thanks dad, we appreciate your waking up and feeding us". Nope, they are all in they're favorite spots grooming themselves and getting ready to take a little nap . . . which is what I was doing in the first place.

Actually, my dogs do show their appreciation when I feed them, I get all six doing various versions of the canine happy happy joy joy dance followed by the "let us out the door so we can romp in the back yard" series of yips, barks and howls.

Princess, lives up to her name, after eating she comes up to me, licks my hand then goes to the back door and gives me the "hurry up and open this door, now" look.

RS......you may be a great and powerful dom, but to your furbabies, you are their sub. I would've thought that would have been obvious by now! :)

(Great and powerful = tongue in cheek)

You sure nailed it beautifully, RS. I suspect it's pretty obvious to them, that no matter how much we think they're here for us, it's actually we're here for them, and they'll never let us forget it!

samdarella -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/23/2013 11:22:19 PM)

Thank you Daddy for feeding the dog and cats. I'll show You gratitude on their behalf. Big lick.

ResidentSadist -> RE: What is your cat doing? (3/2/2013 6:00:53 AM)

^ Good slave. I especially love it when you beg & roll over!

[:)]

And you guys are right, the cats do wish I was their servant. The cats seem to want me to engage them in what they are doing instead of being interested in what I am doing unless it is to interrupt me. No cats on counters or walking on keyboards in this house, but I hear stories like that all the time. I picture the cats saying, "silly hooman, pet us the way I like it or we kill you in your sleep".

How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You

The dog, not so much. It is always willing to get involved or engage me on my level and try to help at what I am doing. Like if you are working on something, it will come and stick its nose in to see if it can help. It will look at you as if to say, "give me the wrench, I can fix that faucet . . . honest". If you are eating, although there is no begging during meal time allowed allowed in this house, when we get up from the table the dog is there to see if it can help do the dishes, or keep the floor clean by catching any food that might drop, or lick plates clean, or dispose of extra food to save us the time and trouble of wrapping it up and putting it away. Dogs are helpful like that ya' know.

Below is a link to one of the best explanations of dog & human bonding behavior I have ever seen. The part about dogs being smarter than monkeys at social things and breeding passive foxes was amazing.

I was just doing a quick meal....some paste stuff with meat in it which just had to boil a few minutes in a pot....

I went to the lounge to the TV and when I came back I saw Curry patiently sitting in front of it...

Now...makes me wonder if he sat there to ensure that no fire will break out or if he was keen on the food itself...[8|]

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: What is your cat doing? (3/3/2013 3:35:10 PM)

Angel feels my glasses belong in the middle of my forehead, not over my eyes. I lay down to watch TV. She lay down right beside me and immediately pushed my glasses up to the middle of my forehead with her nose. I pushed them down; she pushed them up. This went on for the entire program, so I didn't get to see much of it, LOL.
