My cat goes from dead tired- to tearing up the house.   Maybe it is Spring fever.

Mystic, any chance it's her teeth?  I switched to kitten chow for KB because he's not eating dry food like he used to.  I think that's also why he's getting hairballs more.  But the kitten chow pieces are smaller, so he can swallow them whole if he needed to.  I've been trying to check KB's teeth to see if he's losing them or anything, but everytime I try to open his mouth, he breaks out the claws.  I like my skin on my arms intact, tyvm!

Yes, the teeth are a possibility.  I've experienced the same thing when trying to look at her teeth that you have when trying to look at KB's teeth.  I'll pick her up some kitten chow the next time I'm at the store.  I'd like the vet to have a look at her, too.   Thankfully, she can eat the canned food.

Kittehs are sleeping on the bed, they might let me have a little space... maybe.

Trust me Mystic....ALL kittehs can and will snarf down the gooshy food!  NOMNOMNOM big time!  You can actually hear them nommin' at feeding time here!

And speaking of nommin'.....I made a cheater's apple pie earlier.....premade crust and canned apples, but I was jonesing for it...anyway, I went out to the kitchen a few hours after it cooled and I'd eaten a piece, only to find that the nommin' of the pie had begun!  I'm guessing that KB was responsible for the licked parts of the top of the crust, as it was buttery.....and the edges of the crust were missing.  I actually caught Squeaks cleaning the apple pie goo off her paws, so she was in that.  And I heard a crash a bit ago, and when I went out there, Boo was sitting next to the pie, and the spatula that I'd used to get a piece was on the counter....I'd left it sitting in the pan.  Mr "I didn't do it Mom!" would have gotten away with it, except he too had apple goo on his chin yet!  I swear, it's like living with a bunch of 2 year olds!  The only not guilty one was Smooch, but he'd asked for some when I was done with the plate, so he licked mine.

Who'da thunk that kittehs would eat pie?  [8|]

I don't know about pie, but I can vouch that some like pineapple upside down cake :)

The year before last, I was going to a holiday gathering and made a pineapple upside down cake.  I set it out on the cooling rack, then left the room to do something else.  I passed by the kitchen to see Lily on the counter licking the top of the pineapple upside down cake.  The minute she spotted me she jumped down, as she knows she's not allowed on the counter.  However, she was licking her lips like she'd tasted the most delicious thing in the world, and her paws were sticky.  I was so disgusted that I threw the pineapple upside down cake in the trash and went and bought a pie to bring to the gathering.

Last Christmas, I made a key lime pie, a pecan pie, and a pumpkin pie.  You'd better believe I sat there and guarded them like a hawk the whole time they were cooling, then promptly put them away.

Cashew is sleeping on the back of the sofa.  Amos is.. oh hell, where IS she??

tazzygirl -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/9/2011 2:53:52 AM)

Binxie is sitting at my feet, growling at the menacing "belt loop", her arch enemy ~ its literally a belt loop from an old pair of pants ~

Lilly is the reason I am up. She decides on some days that I have had enough sleep and its her time to sleep on my side of the bed, so she head butts me until I wake up. As soon as I am off to the bathroom, she sneaks into my spot, then merely glares at me when I try to move her.

~sighs

Good morning fellow followers of the fine ferocious feline fur friends

S2S, good advice. MFT, you can also try offering some of the kitten milk available in your grocery store as a supplement.

And the vet is a must from what i've read so far. Sounds like your fur baby may need an extraction or a cleaning. Peridontal disease is a big issue for some kittys.

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/9/2011 6:59:50 AM)

Binx is laying on the loveseat arm behind me, just snoozing away.  She was wanting to go out later which Lizard did.

5 minutes later, she was wanting to come back in.  Something about the 21 degree weather does not agree with her.

When Bo left earlier, I made way for the HVAC control and got the heater going.

KITTIES!!!!

I had to show Lizard the group.  She thinks they are cute.

Binx is an orange tabby as well.

LadyRedRose -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/9/2011 1:59:42 PM)

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/9/2011 4:31:36 PM)

Binx has invaded my bed.  For the longest time, she was sleeping behind the computer desk.

Yes, the kitten milk is an idea.  I may pick some up along with some kitten chow as soon as the roads have dethawed and it's safe to drive again.  I think the vet is a must, too, and she's scheduled for Saturday A.M.

Everybody stayed inside and slept most of this chilly, icy day (except me, of course--the one that has to support them all, LOL)

Best wishes for that appointment, I hope it is something mild.

Regarding kitten milk, just as a tip (and not sure if it is a good one) but I started now to buy human lactose free milk for them, simply due to the fact that my cats love milk and with those little ones I ruin my finances even more with 5 cats. During my mums birthday the gf from my great great cousin made us realise that she is allergic to lactose and therefore bought lactose free milk, following which I got the idea that this should be fine to the cats as well, as after all (as far as I know, I can be wrong about it) thats the only or main difference between normal human milk and kitten milk.

anyhow, since then my cats get human lacto free milk, much cheaper and they get it more often. And whilst I know that some folks say they don't need milk, my cats always got milk in the past, not daily, but at least 3 days a week and I wont change that :o)

Anyhow, I hope it goes well, I recently was worried that spicy, the white and tabby one which is cleaning himself on the picture, needs the vet as he hurt his back leg and lost a heck of a lot of fur...I so wish I would know what had happened...thankfully with rescue remedy he got soon fine again with no limping and doesnt need a vet...as right now I simply cant afford a vet. I mean in a real emergency I am sure I would get money from parents when it is life threatening but is just better when you don't need to add such bills to current financial stress which already exists.

Once I found my next job Urmel will get fixed and I am pretty sure that I will fix summer after her next litter...as I still want her to have one litter, but then call it a day and let her have a rest. So I hope she won't have too many in her next litter either as I want to keep them [&:]

But that will then be it, more than enough furrys then [:)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: What is your cat doing? (2/9/2011 5:29:38 PM)

I want a kittie!!!!

But then, Mom will kill me and I enjoy being alive...

ETA:  Binx is back behind me, purring...I think she wants some catnip...will do so in 30 minutes...when Bo gets home...[;)]

Thank you.  I am praying that it is something mild as well.

Never thought about lactose-free milk for kitties.  I have never actually given the cats milk of any kind, but if it turns out Lily has dental issues, she may start getting some.

Angel has cabin fever and is going stir-crazy, running around the house like a nut.  I think she has some spare energy to burn since she doesn't have her normal outlet of running around outside due to the frigid weather.

Glad to hear you got her a vet appt. I hope all is well for your furbaby.

And Phoenix is right about the lactose free milk being safer than cows milk but the kitten milk is made to provide that extra nutrition
and taurine as well.

Try what I do.....holler "tweets!" and they all come running.....while they are scarfing them down, I'm getting all comfy in the bed!  However, some preparation must be made...make sure you've gone potty, your book is where you can reach it, the light is on, the music is playing...because once you get up, you lose your warm spot!  It's amazing how qickly and quietly they can move!  Nothing worse than sitting up and laying back on a furry little (unforgiving) body!

I may give up some luxuries in my life from my personal budget crunch, but my king sized bed will NEVER go!
