I haven't read beyond the first post here.

I am one of "those" people to whom you refer.  The first word of my profile is "OWNED."  It lets folks know right off the bat that I'm with someone, and it's not just some fly by night thing.  When (or if) they read further, they will know that I've been with DB for a very long time.  I joined this site at His urging, to meet other likeminded people, make friends, etc.  THAT is why some of us are on the site and have profiles up.  I have made dozens of friends on here, have met a good many of them in person, and have played with some of them.  Some of us don't use this place as a "hook-up" site, but rather for comradery.  It's really just that simple.

1) I would not be too happy if any sub of mine advertised herself online. I don't care if it is to make friends or to learn. That's what conferences and books are for

ok, I'm posting this after only reading the original post, so if I'm repeating I apologise:

Maybe they post that message out of consideration so that the people that are still looking won't waste their time.

As for them still being here, boy is this getting old.  Number one they have a right to be here if they want, second ya know a lot of people use this site for more than just a pick up joint.  Some of us come here to talk to people with the same interests, and also come here to learn.

While I was single I made many friends here over the years, why should I leave them just because I'm "taken"?   I don't understand when some lame wanker (not talking about you) emails me that I need to leave this site "now" since I am no longer looking.  Are their lives so empty, that they have the time and interests to concern themselves with what I do with my life?

(ok, sorry, this is a sore subject with me)

Just over look those profiles and move on
