for all of us who are on a budget (or are too rough to buy anything expensive to break), i thought I would open up a thread for all of us nifty-kinks.  ;)   Please, share ideas, projects, etc!  i'll start with just a few (and i'm sorry if it's a bit redundant to some)

*in the sports/camping section of wal-mart you can find balls with holes in them (ping-pong?).  they are usually white, relatively small, but big enough to be used as a cheap ball gag. They come in packs of 4 or 6. one strip of leather or other material through the holes, and you have a perfectly disposable, perfectly cheap gag!  :)

*a ping-pong paddle works great for disposable hurtin'.  :)  You can even line the paddle with leather, sandpaper, etc.!

*duct tape, zip ties, jump rope,...even curtain ties are the perfect length for some wrist bondage.

these are just a few...

Adhesive Syring, made into Nipple Suction Tube. Way kewl. My Puppies (Nipples) love them.

Bobby Pins, Curved Hair Clips, Alligator Clamps with Screw and Wing Nut, to adjust tension.

It boggles my mind, and the things that can be made out there. I tried to have a Yahoo Group for home made Toys, but the members never posted so I gave up on it. Maybe Collarme could have something for us, Handy People?

Looking for Tubes now, sub BalletBob

Dowel rods make handy, impromptu switches. They can be bought at hobby stores, Walmart or even Meijer.

I made an excellent spreader bar out of an adjustable pull up bar, two hose clamps and two little steel loops. I works great and is adjustable so depending on how spread I want my little girl...Done! With the rubber pads on the sides I can anchor it in a doorway and keep her in one place if I choose.
I've also discovered that my inversion table can be sooo much fun!

For a quick and easy flogger - window screen spline from Depot/Lowe's/ACE.  Comes in 25' bags from which i cut 6 pieces of equal length.  Thread all 6 through a small steel 'O' ring and fold in half for a flogger with 12 falls.  Wrap with black vinyl electrical tape starting at the 'O' ring far enough down to form a handle, then over-wrap with more tape, cord, or other material to build up the handle to a comfortable thickness.  The spline comes in different thicknesses so you can make both stingy and thuddy floggers, and is a vinyl/plastic material so it can be washed with sterilizing solutions between uses.  The surface of most spline is ridged, looks like a 6 or 8 pointed star if you look at it on end, so if used with a heavy hand it makes lots of fine lacerations, like covering someone with paper cuts.

Ahhhhh. A whole thread devoted to new ideas for "Pervert-ables"!!

A heavy dowel or a mop/broom handle.... two eye bolts.... foam pipe insulation (sleeve type). Makes great spreader bars.

Also, a "back seat clothes rack" for an adjustable bar. Looks like a shower curtain rod.

Don't forget to pick up a couple of stirring paddles in the paint isle!!!

My current project is a stow-under-the-bed collapsible suspension frame. Not sure how complicated you'd describe that (I once got told on one forum that a jigsaw was too specialized a piece of equipment while having to explain to another DIYer that no, I didn't own a plasma torch) but materials cost is going to be around $30.

Also, I highly suggest Tractor Supply or another farm store for materials. They assume that you're going to be restraining mammals so they stock the comfy rope and a lot of load bearing block and tackle, hooks, and the like.

We tend to bastardize the use of stuff.
Steve has made some really nice paddles from dis-guarded bed slats. We use the natural spreaders on the mast of the boat and always have plenty of rope to hand!.
We made a bondage bed by discreetly adding fixing points to the corners of the bed.
We fixed a winch up in the garage for lifting engine parts and used it more for body suspension. Clingfilm for body wraps, earplugs.
We use things like rice for kneeling on and collected an array of aromas for sensory deprivation but the best one was when Steve tore my dress off and then used it to blindfold and tie me up with.

We play around quite a lot with things like interrogation
For fear we have used the sound of a blow torch, the sound of rummaging around in a tool box, the sound of a breaking glass, a radio tuned into white sound, the sound of a gun being cocked, a butchers apron, getting the victim to stand on thick polythene, put a large brown paper bag over the head
a bucket of ice cold water.

I don't think you need to spend a fortune on BDSM toys. You just need an imagination.

Everything in our little dungeon playroom has been made by myself or a friend, there is nothing at all from any store. I have made every piece of our large gear/furnture from scrap lumber from either my garage or from jobsite dumpster scavenging.  I have no use for pretty exotic or expensive wood, most is built from basic 2x4's and plywood painted black. I'll take functional and strong over pretty anyday. The top for the vault horse is merely a 30 gallon drum cut in half lengthwise. The Y-chair back and tower stand are 6x6's taken from a job  that once held up part of a spiral staircase. I'm currently working on a hanging bondage table that is made from a tier of scaffolding that I found on the side of the road. I usually store lumber that I scavenge until I see something I want to build, then just make it. Most furniture for sale on the 'net is really simple to make, and nearly free for me from gathering lumber this way.

As far as simple and easy, I love skewer sticks with rubber bands wrapped tightly around each end for nipple/labia toys. A small wooden wallpaper seam roller can easily be fitted with electrical tape and thumbtacks for a quick and easy version of a wartenburg wheel. Leash splitters from a pet store make excellent hogtie rigs.Tack stores are my all time favorite for cheap gear. Riding crops that are $20+ online for BDSM gear are $12 there. I managed to get the pieces for a rubber bit gag there also for around $12-14. Don't forget to watch for surplus or unclaimed freight stores either! Thanks to the one up the road, I've gotten vet tape for $2 a roll, hospital restraint mits for $4, 36" cling wrap on a handy roll with a handle for $5 a roll, and many more things that I can't remember.

Go to a horse tack store, many toys to play with.
a set of hobbles works great for cuffs, just cut the center link off of them. (about 14 U.S. dollars per pair)
quirks make great whips(about 5-8 dollars)
lots of leather and pony play stuff
leather reigns make great whipping toys.
just walk around with a devious mind and your sure to find some stuff.

Perforated PVC cut to perfect length for spredder bar...just thread leather strips through the pre-drilled holes or attach leather restraints with caribiners from any hardware or sporting goods store

wallpaper paste brushes make nice paddles with extra scratch...super cheap

hair clips for nipple clamps...the tiny ones are super discrete and super pinchy

men's neckties from thrift stores make some of the best blindfolds and restraints

Larger dowels make cheap spreader bars, farm supply carries quick release clips for just in case.

One of the most painful paddles I own:

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13047855

Also, if you can find a copy of The Better Built Bondage Book (it's now out of print), it has loads of DIY projects (some quite elaborate, for those who have a workshop).

We've made several different length spreaders, from a few feet to 12 inches, using 3/4 threaded gas pipe from Dom-depot. Pick you length of threaded pipe, buy two end caps, and two eye bolts. Drill a hole in each end cap, thread in the eye bolt, and then the end cap and you're done! If you tighten the end caps enough, you'll never be able to loosen them without a wrench. I do suggest very throughly degreasing the pipe prior to use. Good luck!

Fantastic ideas in here!   I own double sided clips - don't know the actual name but they usually used for dog leashes but are double sided. They offer ease of use and quick escape if I need to release my victim quickly. Also I purchased a couple of rolls 100' rope from Walmart  (they come in fun fluorescent colors) Lastly a ping pong paddle ( glued sandpaper to one side and purchased a smooth furry swatch and glued to the otherside).

Also a great torture toy is taking 2 toilet paper rolls, affix thumbtacks over the entire thing and then cover and glue the other toilet paper roll over it. It basically keeps the thumbtacks from falling out. Take this and run a small twine around it, affix it to your subbys peen and as you play and he begins to get hard - he is quickly reminded of who is in charge!

Pretty cool ideas for a girl with no money! Have to tell Daddy to get into the workshop for me hehe

I love that with the right devious mindset, the naughtiest uses can be seen in the most innocent things!! All you DIY-ers are so cool!

Is there anyone from over here in Australia that knows of places local with good stuff?

Welcome to the forums Wonder!

Have you thought about trying your hand at making a few of the things yourself and surprising him with them? You'd be surprised what you can do with a little creativity and patience. As for vanilla stores that sell kink-able things I remember several good hardware stores while I was in Northern Queensland, along with a really neat shop that sold electronic hobby kits that had all sorts of devious potential. If I could only remember the name of it....
