welcome to the boards, I see your handle applies.... You might want to reign in the indignance...you have no clue what people under 50 may have seen or maynot have seen...get the stick out of your ass and relax a little.

Rush made discriminatory remarks? Source? Quotes?

Good luck with that.

I know enough to know they weren't around to see the real deal.

No stick in my ass, little girl. You might want to stop parroting and listen for awhile.

you might have wanted to give the slightest quick scan of the thread before joining the fracas with insightful commentary.

you are no longer under benevolent protection, may god have mercy on your soul.

Thanks, but I was under the impression I gave you a quote and source.

In fact, I saw quite a few people on this thread give Rush's quotes and sources.

Did you somehow miss them or do you not believe they were racist?

When you chose your username, how long did you spend deciding between "Notsweet" and "Can'tBeBotheredToReadTheWholeThreadBeforeSpoutingOff"?

I smell a rat, and a big assed one....this one should be easy to figure out...wiggles eyebrows

I did read it. I don't give a ton of credence to a BETA "journalist."

Comments are taken out of context CONSTANTLY, on both sides, when you're talking politics, and that's exactly what this is.

You want to say it's racist or not, print the whole monologue, not just one three-second comment, where he was comparing the absurdity of one thing to another. FFS, you can pull one sentence out of ANYTHING and make it look like another.

And frankly, if you don't know that white kids were getting beaten up on school buses, check some local news sites, and see for yourself. It was happening. Happened right here, where I live, twice in the first two weeks of school. I teach, and we went around and around over how to stop kids from bullying.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about but as the children like to say....whatevah.

I am sure somebody is calculating that very thing, people with money in the game. And I am quite sure that Sharpton will never own a team either for like reason.

LOL.

I agree, it's just common business sense not to alienate a large group of your customers, black or white.

~FR~

Has anyone bothered to look at history of racism in the NFL? Has anyone bothered to look at the image some of the owners current and past have had? If he is going to be denied the purchase, it should be based on integrity of ethics, and not on hypocritical actions.

Tal Orion,

I hear you sorta, but I am not guilty because the Chinese are historically communist.

And after all, its a football franchise, and I think we should do away with all sports franchises.
Death to couch potatos!!!!!!

The history of racism in the NFL coincided with the history of racism in this country.

If anything, major league sports have helped to break down racial barriers, so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

All these people saying Rush is a racist, Rush said this, Rush said that don't listen to him. I do. He's not.

Bill Maher makes a living by saying outrageous things, and getting people worked up. He's not funny, never was. At least Rush is funny.

But the thing that truly disgusts me is calling people "racist," simply because it's the new "n-word." If a liberal doesn't like someone, they scream "Racist." Plain and simple, I see it every day. It makes me sick--seeing as how I'm old enough to have seen what real racism is. How about having a daily conversation with a couple of 70 year old African American women every single day, listening to THEIR stories of how things used to be, then come back and tell me about racism. If you're under 50, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Whether or not Maher is funny....or Rush is funny seems besides the point. You on the other hand are a riot.....imagine insulting every poster under that age of 50 with one sentence....shit even Rush isn't that obnoxious.

I'm trying really hard to imagine any context in which  "slavery had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark" would be anything but racist. Really hard. Or for that matter, "We miss you, James Earl Ray. Godspeed."

But for some reason, I'm unable to come up with anything.

Sorry im late to the party [:D]

First, lets look at this from another direction. What would you do with the draft if these players steadfastly refused to play for a team owned by Rush? If a player refused to be traded? Not sure how either of those would play out, but i do imagine it would get ugly.

As far as proof... how many transcripts do you desire, Notsweet? Btw, unless your profile is not up to date, your not 50 either. I have first hand knowledge of what its like to be discriminated against, try growing up as half native american in the south.

quote:

PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb has been to three straight Pro Bowls and two consecutive NFC championship games, and was runner-up for NFL MVP in his first full season as a starter.

Before McNabb led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 23-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Limbaugh said on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" that McNabb is overrated. However, Limbaugh injected his comment with racial overtones that have set off a controversy.

"Sorry to say this, I don't think he's been that good from the get-go," Limbaugh said. "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

I'm still trying to figure out why "The Reverand" Al Sharpton thinks *he* has any relevance in this.
Hubris? Or maybe another word. Does he see $ signs somewhere ala "Shakedown" Jesse?
