Hey Lucienne, sorry it took me awhile to reply, I did find stats that show an increase in premarital sex among white women (srsly) so take that limited demographic reference to be what you will: Virgin brides. Percentage of white women married from 1960-65 who were virgins: 43; from 1980-85: 14. http://www.contracept.org/news/usnews0597.html Obviously I can't link that directly to birth control or abortions because society has changed so much in that time period, and personally I don't see anything wrong with premarital sex so long as you're responsible about it, but the increase of out of wedlock births is disturbing. 35% of cohabitating parents stay together until their child is 16, vs 70% of married parents http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/3068755/Married-parents-twice-as-likely-to-stay-together-as-couples-in-live-in-relationships.html Again I feel so spazzy mixing UK and US stats but I'm just sort of giving a general idea here...Google isn't a synonym for research, as the saying goes, and I think the two nations are similar enough that the statistics can be used to show a general trend toward something.
