MTCell -> E.D. a Mental or Physical Problem? (11/10/2009 11:47:19 AM)

The title says most of it, however I found when I smoked I had no issues getting an erection because since I was a teenager, I always related it to sex! Yep, now I'm older and quit a few years ago, guess what, no production! hmmmm a mental condition? So off I go to doctor and he thinks it's a medical condition, hmmmm erectilitis!!! yikes!!!

What turned you on before? I still get it up now and again, but I don't even care too much anymore! lol. Are you over 50 and having issues? How are you solving them?

You might be interested in this thread http://www.collarchat.com/m_2894953/tm.htm where a similar discussion is happening now.

The answer to your question is that it can be either a physical or mental problem.  It can be caused by getting older, but it can also be a side effect of certain medications, smoking, drinking too much, and a number of others.

I would definitely look for the medical possibilities first, then if none of those are the root cause, start examining the mental/emotional possibilities.

In my own experiences with the men I've known I've seen it happen as mainly a physical problem brought on by a variety of causes but there can be a mental component too- especially once it starts happening and then there is performance anxiety added to the mix.

I would have to say that within my own background of having this happen with men I was involved with and then me looking for answers, my own completely unscientific answer to the most common cause is lack of physical fitness. Maybe men who are more physically fit are into watching their food/drink intake and don't smoke ...? Whatever it is - that to me seems to be a common denominator. Obviously there are medication or illness components as well.

As far as the interest...that almost seems to be a use it or lose it component. If the sex isn't happening as much or has problems associated with it, the interest in it wanes as well.
