I admit that would work though I am reluctant to do it. Our friends and family are confused enough by the fact that we each have kept our 'maiden' names that I don't want to confuse them into thinking we hyphenated either.

I admit this has the potential to get even more interesting once we have kids....

I admit that it still isn't too late to change your last name to his. (just a matter of legal stuff and whatever the filing fee is in your jurisdiction)

I admit this is a rare moment of stereotypical feminism for me - I have positively no desire to pay to change the last name I've had all my life and am actually very fond of.

I admit that I intended to hyphenate at the time of our wedding until we learned that North Carolina does not do free name changes for a couple getting married.

I admit that, at that point, both Valyraen and I went "Fuck you - we're not paying for the privilege to stand in line for hours, then have to call SS, all my banks, get a new driver's license and change something that we don't think needs to be changed anyway".

I admit that I understand Aqua's stance on keeping her name.

I admit that Virginia allows names to be changed at the time of marriage, without fees being applied. It's really very simple.

I admit that I did the opposite of what most women do when they divorce. I kept my married name.

I admit that I wanted to have the same last name as the Things, because it's just easier with schools, doctors, hospitals, etc., and I like my last name.

I admit that Virginia charges a small fee at the time of a divorce for the restoration of maiden name, but I still wasn't going to do it for the reasons stated above.

I admit that when I put a return address on a letter, I don't put my last name there, just an addz.

I admit that it's scary that I kept my married name for pretty much the same reasons Red did....great minds and all!

I admit that FL doesnt charge anything to return to the maiden name at the time of the divorce.

I admit neither does CA (well, at least back in 83..)

I admit my mom kept her married name until I was 18, then had her name changed back, as a gift to my Stepmom.

I admit that this way I'll never have to worry about it if divorce becomes an issue.

I admit that Val will smack my ass if he sees that.

I admit I do worry about what we'll do about kids and the last name thing. We're debating just doing the "Jones-Smith" thing for them. I guess we'll go with what feels right when it becomes an issue.

I admit that my boss decided to rescind our end-of-year paid time off, that the office needed to stay open thru the end of the year, instead of closing like we've done for the last 4 or 5 years. I admit this was AFTER he already told us we had the time off. I admit that he is still going out of town on his vacation for that time period.

I admit that I was quite unhappy with this turn of events.

And I admit that because of that, I was really looking forward to a get-together with friends. I admit that 10 minutes after I arrived, in walked someone I've managed to avoid for over a year.

I admit it threw me for a loop.

I admit that I thought I had put it behind me, but I found that I was angry all over again for the lies she concocted about me.

I admit I couldn't just leave, as I had the chicklets with me. I admit I could not get sloshed on pomegranite martinis as I was driving.

I admit that I woke up this morning with a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, etc. I admit this is probably God punishing me for not forgiving the conniving, lying, bottom-masquerading-as-a-sub biotch.

I admit that I am not amused with God's sense of humor, or lack thereof. I admit that not only am I probably going to burn in hell, but that there won't be any pomegranite martinis there either.

Dammit.

I admit that I have a few people from my past who, unbeknownst to them, would benefit from a little forgiveness and letting-go-of-stuff. Or is that me who would benefit..?

I admit that NC does not charge for the return of one's maiden name, either. I admit that I found this out a little over two years ago, via one of the persons who would benefit from the above forgiveness. I admit that I wasn't really worried about my last name, since I was about to change it again shortly (i.e. get remarried on Inauguration Day and go to Cape Canaveral for my honeymoon less than four months after my divorce).

I admit that for some strange reason, I am proud to know that Val and aqua live in NC too. We're all cool like that.
