ORIGINAL: LillyBoPeep haha =p i only have what i picked up along the way. =p a battery can drain REALLY fast if the alternator isn't charging it. if you have your lights on, or windshield wipers, anything that drains power or the connector to the alternator might be bad and isn't making good contact seriously, have someone look at it at the shop Some of those auto-parts places will test your alternator I think... at least here they do. And yup, dead battery could well be alternator related or the cables...the cables connections and battery terminals might just need to be cleaned. But if it isn't that, and the battery isn't old, then the reason it isn't holding it's charge is because it isn't 'charged' to begin with-->alternator. Edit to add: If it isn't the alternator, the cables or the battery itself (which was ruled out) then you check for a battery drain: http://www.aa1car.com/library/battery_runs_down.htm http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/repair/how-to-stop-car-battery-drains and...spelling One of my countless times in a broken car (I had the talent to chose the one who should better be in a garage than on the road ) was also due to the battery uncharging itself...one staff from our garage did a lot of work himself. Sort of if he can fix it, he will do it, and if it needs more work he will take it to his garage....they had done something on my car, dont remember if something got replaced or just check up for MOT or whatever it was...however, the day after I picked it up, my car had the habbit that always a light went on near the steering wheel which should have never gone on when use the breaks...so I contacted him when I got home to double check those very unusual behavioural symptoms from my car and he fixed it....as according to him certain screwes werent screwed on properly (not tight enough according to him, thats at least how I remember it) and due to it not being screwed together properly the battery uncharged itself when using the break...thank goodness I figured that one out before ending up in a car again, which doesn't move Before that event I already had an occassion where my car had given up (well, way more than one) and on that particular occassion the battery had run flat as the screws weren't screwed back the proper way either ... so sometimes also such simple reasons are behind it apparently... This is one of the few things I truly treasure with not having a car right now....not ending up stuck on the road all the time as that thing just doesnt move (and it wasnt just my car, was also parents cars, I just had the lucky hand to grab the one which will give up )....would have preferred to have swapped with my brother who was the one ending up in police controls all the time for no real reason on one evening alone three times in one small town
