ORIGINAL: LillyBoPeep i admit i wanna know where this mention of Caravaggio came from. don'tget me started, i LOVE Caravaggio -- the intense light and darks, and dramatic angles, too -- most people think "chiaroscuro" when you say Caravaggio, but his works were dramatic in so many ways. The Conversion of St. Paul is one of those pieces. and of course The Calling of St. Matthew -- the beam of light, the quoted hand, the figures with their backs to the viewer -- dynamic. ^_^ i admit... ARTGASM. heh ... he's also remarkable in 2 other ways; firstly, he's one of the few painters from that era whose works actually change and develop fairly dramatically, over time, and secondly his life was as "interesting" as his art, to put it mildly. To say the chap had anger management issues is understating it somewhat :)
