That's the hardest part of building the resume. What did I do for the last 10 years? Typing letters Made appointments Returned phone calls Managed accounting Took care of collections Maintained payroll Typed up work for her non-work related work Returned her personal calls Kept track of her emails Scrubbed out her fridge Ordered rx's for her, her dogs, her husband Would go to her house to talk to the plumber/other workers Walked her dogs, set up appointments for her dogs, book flights for her dogs Booked hotels for her for personal or business use, ditto with plane flights Computer support, including setting up networking, installing software, IT support at all hours for her or clients for work or non-work related stuff. Virtual mapping before she got her GPS. "I am at x and x. I am lost. How do I get to x?" Days off were not days off. I knew that if she called and I was on my way to somewhere, unless it was a funeral, I was expected to go to the office to take care of any problem I could not fix from home. No, I was not on salary. I admit that I disliked much of the job, but I am now lost without it because I am not used to having all this free time with no one's stuff to micro-manage for them.
