I admit I need advice on good flea dips for cats. Finances are tight (more so than usual) and the topical stuff is a bit dear right now, so I was wondering if anyone has reccomendations for flea-bathing shampoos?

Well, when Urmel was just a few days/weeks old I used to just put him into warm water, then pull him out and then pick up the fleas like strawberries....due to his age at that time I did not want to use any chemicals...but it was marvellous to see how the fleas were there not moving at all and after picking up those fleas I put them back into the bucket to drown them...now of course....with the size of your cats...that might be a bit tricky

As a result of this Urmel needs way more sprinkles with my water pistol if i want him not to do something than the other cats...as he is not that much afraid of water anymore

My cats also need to go to the vet but here are finances screwed tight right now as well

It seems they got their ear mites back, or whatever you call them in englisch and so I hope to get them treated soon...right now the overall financial situation improved as mum got her life insurance paid out (it was the time it was planned for, not an earlier request on that) but with her condition I don't want to bug her in that respect, not with the current financial chaos I have already....anyhow, during september or october the vet will be visited...at last...and I already got a suggestion of a vet from my neighbour who has a birman herself (her birman is 18, the 20 year old passed away a few weeks ago).

I admit on the down side mum is feeling awful today....which isn't great to hear...and I hope she is feeling better again tomorrow damn cancer

I admit that when indoor animals get fleas, doesnt it mean the HOUSE has them? In the upholstery or something?

I admit that Jeddie having a splash bath is seriously comical. My room smelling like wet newspaper and bird food...less so.

I admit that we went to a very nice restaurant in Oakland (Scott's) right on Jack London square/the Marina. Brunch with champagne mimosas. There were also chocolate covered strawberries and sundaes (icecream/chocolate sauce/berries) for dessert. Amazing.

I admit that I am glad to see Ash post.

I admit that sometimes I think I have problems, and come read here, and realize I have no problems.

I admit that I lost 2 more pounds! 23 since June 1st.

I admit that I worked all weekend, getting ready for the munchkins to come back to school tomorrow. I can't wait to see them and hear all about their summers!

Bathing the cats (if possible) with regular pet shampoo will kill the fleas, they drown, then use a flea comb and continue using a flea comb, this will get any straddlers as well as the eggs. Also, the "flea dirt" which your cats may be allergic to as well. To treat the furniture and the house use diatomaceous earth, this will kill the fleas, usually with a couple of treatments. Sprinkle it, leave it then vacuum it up. You can also leave it where the vacuum does not reach. Food grade will neither harm you or your pets.

Found link which explains it well. I have personally used it with positive effect to get fleas out of an infested house.

Good luck Greedy...

I admit it I can't help but ask, gee, where were you when the apartment I lived in had fleas from the previous tenant's cat and I became their 2nd choice meal when there was no longer a cat? I can attest personally to the ineffectiveness of flea collars. I used to wear them around my ankles to try to ward off getting eaten alive while sleeping. It didn't help.

Edited 'cause my proofreading of this post sucked.

I admit to thinking of my girl again. I heard from her a couple of hours ago via text, and her last words, referring to a previous conversation we'd had, were:

"And not soggy?"

We have fun conversations.

I admit the boy is practicing his piano (Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik). He only plays by ear, like me, but he has a good ear and head for notes.

I admit that it's been a long dead day, with most of the work already done. Thoughts of her, though, intermingled with notes muted by the closed wooden door down the hall, make it a good day.

I admit I went to aerial yoga for the first time today. It was AWESOME! I am so toying with the idea of installing a aerial yoga hammock on our 2nd floor.

I admit a man in a minivan wearing a baseball cap 'wolf whistled' at me in the Walgreens carpark. I feel... violated.

I admit that I'm quite upset not to be starting the day with women's rhythmic gymnastics (WRG) again.
I also admit that the lilone is sleeping upstairs and has no idea the plans I have for today that involve her, the surgical staplers and that cactus I bought.
I admit that it's probably in her best interest that I not be wakened with a diamondcutter woody, so the lack of WRG may be in her long term best interests
I further admit that frustration re the lack of said woody may be equally unpleasant for her, right now it's a coin toss to see which way these things go
I admit that knowing she is sleepy all snuggly and innocent and absolutely unaware of my dire intents upstairs, which has me all sorts of filled with unholy glee...and on a Sunday nonetheless.
I admit that it's wonderful to be alive

I admit that we didn't get a chance to do this today because we eerrr.....got lost in the woods. unfortunately?
I admit we were both way too exhausted when we finally got home. yeah...that's it...we were BOTH too exhausted.
I admit my allergies are now KILLING me!!!
I admit we had a fun day though going to the gardens, getting lost and laughing about it.
