ORIGINAL: ShaharThorne THAT is a BROWN RECLUSE!!!! KILL!!! ITS DEADLY!!! He/she is long gone now. I could barely even touch the screen door knowing that thing had been crawling around! Eeep! But then again, I realized he/she was probably more scared of me than me it...and I was pretty freakin' skeered!!! quote:
ORIGINAL: smileforme50 I admit that while bugs don't usually bother me....if I would have seen that thing on my screen door....I would have screamed too!!!! I admit that....Rodents on the other hand ...ALWAYS bother me. I think mostly because I can't just step on them. I haven't seen any rodents around in years. *knocks on wood* This spider thing was actually in between the decorative feature on the door (further down, out of frame of the photo) and the screen when I first saw it. It was right next to the handle. I noticed it right as I was opening the screen door. *shivers* quote:
ORIGINAL: Blonderfluff O. M. G. I would just...move. That was a consideration, but fortunately it moved instead. Like I said, I've lived here for many years and have never encountered one before. Hopefully never again! quote:
ORIGINAL: smileforme50 And the extra freaky thing is....that was on the INSIDE of the screen door! Initially it was on the outside, but it crawled up and around the screen. After I first saw it, I wasn't touching the screen door again! quote:
ORIGINAL: freedomdwarf1 Really?? You can identify a spider from a fuzzy pic taken several paces away?? Unless that's a very thin door frame, that spider looks to be more than 20mm. Also, for definitive identification it is imperative to examine the eyes. While most spiders have eight eyes, recluse spiders have six eyes arranged in pairs (dyads) with one median pair and two lateral pairs. Only a few other spiders have three pairs of eyes arranged in this way (e.g., scytodids). Are you high? I could barely get that close to take the photo, nevermind get close enough to see how many eyes this thing had!!! I measured and the width of the screen is 2" (50 mm). Oh... and... I admit it I admit all of the above. :)
